Startup Scan


Apple has once again gone another Mac OS release while skimping on the utilities. Not even its own DiskCopy software is included, and it would be nice to some day have a free disk optimizer. On the plus side, though, the new Disk First Aid 8.5.1 is more effective than ever and as an added bonus it will automatically scan your drives after a crash. Though this may prove to be more of a bother than a feature (although it can be disabled), it's certainly convenient and doesn't add too much time to the startup.
