File Exchange replaces the PC Exchange control panel the Mac OS previously used. Though essentially the same, File Exchange does offer some options that makes file translation a little easier (by using the built-in translators of programs already installed on your Mac), but doesn't come close to filling the void Apple left after deciding to no longer bundle MacLink Plus with the Mac OS.
