We try out upcoming Dodge Dart's digital dash

We stopped by Chrysler's outdoor display at CES to check out the digital dashboard and UConnect system of the upcoming Dodge Dart compact sedan. While the car itself was nowhere to be found, as it was in Detroit after making its debut there earlier this week, we had a chance to play with the car's UConnect system as a dash mock-up was available in the trailer. The 7-inch TFT screen sits between an analog tachometer on the left and a traditional fuel gauge on the right and always shows the speedometer.

Chysler intros Web Edition

Chrysler is taking the next step in bringing the web into cars with a Web Edition option package due to be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week. Along with an in-car router from Autonet Mobile, the automaker is calling uConnect Web, buyers who opt for the $1,999 package also get Dell's Mini 9 netbook, a Sony PSP, an 8GB iPod Touch and an unnamed digital camera with Eye-Fi wireless SD card. All these devices have Wi-Fi modules that can take advantage of the car's built-in router. One year of service is also included with the Web Edition package.

Chrysler uconnect Official

Chrysler through its Mopar parts division today made official its uconnect web service. The feature briefly previewed yesterday provides a 3G cellular Internet connection to any Wi-Fi equipped device in a car and effectively gives constant, rolling Internet access to notebooks and handhelds. The network runs over EVDO and gives users downloads between 400Kbps to 800Kbps and uploads at roughly 400Kbps. The speed is enough to allow live streaming video and online gaming, Mopar claims.
