Apple has shut down Topsy, a social media analysis firm that concentrated on analyzing Twitter use. Quietly closed last night, Topsy revealed its service was ending last night with the message "We've searched our last tweet," appropriately via the first post in two years on Topsy's own Twitter account, with attempts to access the service's website now sending visitors to an Apple support page explaining how to use search in iOS 9.
Google has suddenly and quietly stopped its Realtime Search service. The move comes after the two-year contract with Twitter, the primary content provider for this particular search engine, expired. There is no indication if a new arrangement is under discussion at this time.
