Let me paint an all-too-familiar scenario: You've got a stereo system that still works perfectly fine, but through a series of unfortunate events, you're stuck with speakers that don't work. Or maybe you just bought a brand new computer that lacks speakers at all, and you want to listen to Pandora while you surf the web without cutting off the outside world. Maybe the speakers of your favorite record player just don't do your albums justice. Whatever the reason, you're looking for new speakers ASAP. Allow us to introduce to you the Samson Meteor M2 Multimedia Speaker System, a retro-inspired speaker set designed to alleviate such problems.
Complete speaker setups come in configurations for a wide array of uses, from multi-speaker home theater packages to compact desktop PC solutions. While there is never one set that covers every function perfectly, those looking for 2.1 speaker systems are confronted by a wealth of choices. But does the SW-G2.1 2000 setup offer a good sound value, or would consumers be better off purchasing something like a 7.1 surround sound system? Find out in our review.

Logitech has announced the upcoming availability of its new 2.1 multimedia speaker system, the Multimedia Speakers Z213. Featuring two satellite speakers and a dedicated subwoofer, the system is designed to work with Windows and Mac computers, as well as tablets, smartphones and MP3 players. Its down-firing subwoofer with a four-inch driver provides a strong bass level, and its wired control pod holds controls for volume. Audio can be listened to through headphones connected to the 3.5mm-compatible headphone jack built into the control pod. The Logitech Multimeda Speakers Z213 system is also compatible with the company's Bluetooth Audio Adapter. Anticipated to be available this month, the Multimedia Speakers Z213 are priced at $30.
Eclipse TD has announced the upcoming availability of its wireless speaker system, the Eclipse TD-M1. The M1 aims to reproduce the sound of music played live, incorporating a non-oversampling DA converter (NOS-DAC) for clear listening. Its egg-shaped form is designed to suppress internal standing waves, as well as minimize the diffraction effect that occurs from the front baffle angle. Featuring wireless music playback, the M1 is AirPlay compatible for high-resolution sound from any recent Apple computer or device. Touch sensors and LED indicators provide intuitive use and reduce clutter of its design, removing the need for buttons. The Eclipse TD-M1 has a dedicated iOS app available for remote control functionality, offering power on or off, volume adjustment and input switching functionality. Available for purchase beginning March 31, the Eclipse TD-M1 speaker system is priced at $1,300.

Electronista took the opportunity to try out Orb's modular speaker system, which features an eight-inch standalone subwoofer and an array of seemingly tiny drivers contained in four-inch spheres. In our full review, we will determine if the Orb system is worthy of its premium price tag.
