Updated clipboard manager is nearly a must
It's only a small point update from version 1.1.3 which we reviewed back in March, but the new Clips 1.2 adds a redesign and enough improvements that we reckon it moves from "very good" to "a must have." Well, nearly. There are still things we wish it could do, but every one of them is a specific limitation imposed by Apple's iOS.
An iOS clipboard manager you didn't know you needed
If you don't happen to know what a clipboard manager is, you need one. If you do and you've also tried out a couple, you know why you need it and you know just how hard it will be to make you give them up. Not to rub it in if you haven't tried one yet but they have been around for a very long time – or at least they have on Macs. With iPhone and iPads, it's really taken until iOS 8 for them to be possible. Clips is a free clipboard manager for iOS and it is just about as good as Apple allows it to be.
Corkboard 1.0 beta release
A new Texas-based developer says he has found a way to build a better mousetrap, with an application that soups up the traditional clipboard. The clipboard is a staple of the Mac OS and a place to put stuff you want to copy or paste, but the new utility brings new functions: Ayluro Corkboard 1.0 runs alongside a user’s clipboard, providing additional tools to expand storage, organize data and retrieve items. Perhaps the handiest feature: it can be used to store copies of everything in the clipboard. So, for example, if a user were to store a block of text it wouldn’t be lost if the writer accidentally copies something else to the clipboard.
PTHPasteboard Pro 4.4
PTH Consulting today announced PTHPasteboard Pro 4.4, a new version to its copy/paste management program, introducing a new filter and several other improvements. The new Match Lines filter brigs grep functionality to the app, allowing users to filter lines by plain or regular expression strings. PTH also improved the Line Unwrap filter, making it smarter and providing expected behavior. Existing users can upgrade for free, while new users can pay $25 for the full version.
