Apple again urges people to migrate to iCloud
Apple is sending out email notices reminding people of the impending iWork.com shutdown. The service will go dark on July 31st; in the memo, Apple links users to a support article telling them how to save their documents, and also recommends uploading files to iCloud for access across multiple computers and iOS devices. Once this month's deadline has passed, Apple will delete any documents still left on iWork.com.
Enables embedded code
Apple has made two important upgrades to the iWork.com beta. Keynote '09 presentations can now be viewed on the web, with support for animations. The technology extends to the iPad, where touch gestures can be employed to swipe through slides when browsing in Safari.
Update adds support for iWork.com beta
Apple has released an update to its iWork '09 productivity suite today, adding playback of Keynote presentations on the iWork.com public beta -- requiring the latest version of Safari -- with 15 animations and effects. Keynote Remote v1.2 is now supported with high-resolution slides available for Retina displays and two major bugs in Keynote are fixed. One involves a ruler issue when resizing, the other an export to iPod issue when iTunes 10 is installed alongside iWork '09. The update also fixes a Drop transition, Dissolve build, and Shape Colors issue in Keynote.
New mobile interface features added
Apple on Wednesday announced an updated version of its iWork.com beta, adding a revamped UI and new features for social networking. The Sign In and Shared Documents page has been optimized for mobile devices such as the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. The new interface and improved scrolling are said to help users quickly find documents.
In brief: MyService has expanded its hard drive upgrade options to include a 500GB 7200RPM Seagate drive. Apple has continued to expand its retail locations and opened a new store in Santa Barbara over the weekend. The store provides all of the Apple Store services and is located at 928 State St. Apple has also filed for a new trademark related to its iWork.com services. The service was originally announced in January and is still in its beta testing stage.
