Nintendo has reported its first half-year loss in seven years. For the six months to September 30, the Japanese gaming giant reported a $24.7 million loss. This was on the back of its sales slipping by 34 percent, in part due to lower demand for the Wii console, but also due to the Apple iPod touch effect on the DS. When questioned about the Apple effect recently, Nintendo of America’s President Reggie Fils-Aime told Forbes that Apple’s iPhone and iPod were “absolutely” larger threats than the strong sales of Microsoft's recently revamped Xbox 360.
In the race for each iPod Touch 4G case manufacturer to distinguish themselves from the competition, companies strive for quality materials, protection levels or coloring to make their product stand out. Only SwitchEasy, however, thought of changing the color of the home button with a tactile, glossy jellybean-style coating incorporated into their silicone case line, called Colors.
After Apple introduced the iPhone 4, a major leap over previous versions, iPod fans were left waiting for the technology to trickle down to the iPhone's phone-less counterpart. The fourth-generation Touch fulfills most of the expectations, mimicking the iPhone's dual camera configuration and 960x640 'retina display.' In our full review, we'll take a look at the list of new features that aim to push Apple's flagship iPod even further ahead of the competition -- but still slightly behind the iPhone.
More new cases have been introduced for Apple's latest iPod touch, this time from Incipio and XtremeMac, though neither company has updated its website. Incipio will deliver five cases for the Touch, alongside a wristband for the sixth-generation Nano and an armband series for the Touch, Nano and Shuffle. Incipio's dermaSHOT is a high-density silicone case for the Touch, featuring a finish that slips easily into pants pockets. The SILICRYLIC has a silicone core with a hard-shell shield for the back and corners. The Feather is an ultralight polycarbonate case, while the EDGE is a hard-shell case made from optical-quality polycarbonate with a removable lower section for docking stations. The final product is the Dotties series, which come in 15 colors with 30 interchangeable colored dots.
Following Apple's announcement of the fourth-generation iPod touch, Belkin and WaterField have launched cases for the new iOS device. Belkin has announced 14 new cases -- five grip cases, two shield cases, four verve cases and three armbands. The grip cases are textured for easier handholding. The Grip Ergo with Strap features a fitted design and a removable strap, in translucent black or taro, while the Grip Groove Duo has a wavy texture and arrives in either black-and-clear or gray-and-purple color combinations. The Grip Graphix swirls two colors into the wave textures, mixing aqua and white, mauve with pink or black with clear. The Grip Vue eschews textures for a high gloss finish, in nine colors, while the Grip Edge moves to black or brown leather.
