Online sales on Thanksgiving also increased
Black Friday e-commerce spending by US shoppers has passed the $1 billion milestone for the first time. The amount of online retail activity for Friday, November 23rd has been called the "heaviest online spending day to date in 2012," with sales increasing 26 percent compared to Black Friday last year.

Google move into e-commerce somewhat murky
Google is in the process of testing a service that would allow users of its e-commerce services to receive same-day delivery on products they purchase. The service is currently being tested in San Francisco, where users affiliated with Google are able to get products from at least one national apparel chain. The move would bring Google into stiffer competition with the likes of Amazon, Wal-Mart, and eBay, all of which are looking to bring same-day shipping to market.

Users could create wishlists of products
Facebook is said to be partnering with retailers in testing a feature that would bring a "Want" button to e-commerce sites, allowing users of the social network to generate wishlists of items that would be shared with their friends. Reuters reports that Facebook hopes to leverage its billion-strong user base to secure a strong position in e-commerce, with users purchasing items off of Facebook. The feature is currently in testing, but Facebook hopes to roll it out to all of its US users gradually.
