Opens up a world of palettes for guitarists

The Misa Digital Kitara multi-touch guitar synthesizer is now available for pre-order. While it might appear to be more a toy than an instrument at first glance, the Kitara is designed as a genuine digital alternative to a real guitar. It consists of three main components including a full fretboard, a multi-touch touchscreen and an onboard polyphonic synthesizer pre-loaded with sounds and effects.

You Rock Guitar supports Mac, gaming systems

Inspired Instruments has announced that it will be displaying its first mobile digital guitar at this year’s MacWorld Expo. You Rock Guitar offers support for Mac-based music playing and recording applications such as GarageBand and works with a variety of mobile devices including the iPhone and iPod. The guitar can be played through an amplifier or can be used as a gaming controller for the XBOX 360, PS3 and Wii versions of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band video games.
