Thieves tunnel into Apple warehouse, abscond with treasure trove

Profits from stolen phones spent on cars, gold, gambling

Last week in Beijing, three men tunneled underground into a warehouse belonging to an Apple distributor and were able to steal 240 of the latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models. The incident is just the latest in a series of crimes involving the latest iPhone -- resulting in a nickname for the device that translates "Kidney 6," in reference to a case in 2012 when a 17-year-old allowed one of his kidneys to be removed and sold so he could afford to buy an iPhone and iPad.

FBI, SOCA seize URLs for 36 sites selling stolen card info

FBI and EU agencies stop criminal carding sites

The FBI, the UK Serious Organized Crime Agency, and other European authorities have shut down 36 criminal websites by seizing the domains. The sites, selling details for hundreds of thousands of stolen credit cards, were finally brought down after a two-year criminal investigation into the activities.

South Africa busts pro PS3 jailbreaking operation

Raid is 1st arrest in the world for PS3 pirating

Police in South Africa have raided a residence in Parktown, Johannesburg after receiving criminal complaints from the South African Federation Against Copyright Theft (SAFACT). The police seized original PS3 games and numerous jailbreak USB devices, which are used to defeat security features and allow pirated games to be played. Authorities believe the games were used as master copies. The police also seized PS3 consoles, computers, hard drives, circumvention software packages, documentation and copies of PS2 games.

Burglars ram vehicle into Portland Mac store

Wall destroyed, classic Mac collection damaged

Two thieves used a full-sized gray pickup truck to ram into MacPac, a popular northeast Portland, Oregon independent Mac dealer Saturday, getting away with thousands of dollars' worth of laptops and iPads -- but the robbery was caught on tape with some clear views of the suspects in surveillance footage, say police.
