Gamers hoping for a slim version of the Xbox One with a reduced cost could be see something hit the market in the near future. According to a resume from a senior manager at AMD, the company has successfully shrunk the die size of the system-on-chip (SOC) that is included in Microsoft's next-gen gaming console. Based on AMD's roadmap and die shrinks for GPUs and APUs, it could mean a new Xbox One is on its way in 2015.
Since August, Xbox One owners have been complaining about a noise emanating from the console, leading owners to believe that new Xbox One consoles are faulty. Users are experiencing a loud clicking or buzzing sound coming from the hardware itself, with a majority of the faulty units purchased without the Kinect sensor. Microsoft now appears to be issuing exchanges for properly working models, according to a statement made to gaming site Kotaku.
The BBC has learned through anonymous sources that the next iteration of the Nvidia Shield could be used to play Android and stream PC games in a new way. The rumored device looks to build on existing technology surrounding the Shield, including the use of the GeForce Experience and GameStream to stream games from a host computer powered by an Nvidia GPU.
The team behind the Android gaming console Ouya is trying its hand at a new pricing structure that could draw some extra attention. Polygon found a listing on the Ouya Shop today that offers an "All-Access Pass," giving Ouya owners access to more than 800 games for the price of $60. Ouya states the deal is worth $2,000 for 12 months of free game access through the pass.
Nintendo released its 2013 year-end report today, to disappointing results. The company announced that it posted a $457 million loss on the back of slumping sales of the Wii U and 3DS hardware units. The loss comes even after the company had already revised its sales forecast downward in January to anticipate more realistic sales figures.
Microsoft's Xbox One console has received another update, rolling out beginning today. Now including notifications for when friend players arrive online, users will be able to identify friends who are playing multiplayer games. The console's Kinect voice and motion detection has also been improved, reducing false positives on non-hand objects that trigger gesture commands. Other features in the update include improved GameDVR video quality, controller headset adapter firmware updates, silent reboot after system updates and system update on demand, and more.
Ouya has launched an updated version of its Kickstarter-funded, Android-based game console. Just like the limited-edition white model from the end of 2013, the upgraded version offers an all-black console, a similarly-colored controller, a doubling of the internal storage from 8GB to 16GB, and a number of other small improvements over the original model.
BlueStacks has announced that it will be releasing a second version of its GamePop Android-powered game console, shortly after it ships the original device. The GamePop Mini will have significantly smaller profile than the cube-shaped GamePop, and will be offered to customers at no charge alongside a subscription to its game service.
Game peripherals producer Mad Catz has provided more information about its Android-based micro-console. Project M.O.J.O. has been confirmed as being powered by an Nvidia Tegra 4 system-on-chip, will be supplied with the C.T.R.L.R. game controller, and takes up a smaller footprint than its direct competition, the Kickstarter-funded Ouya.

Seagate 3TB unreliability suit expands
The Seagate 3TB class-action hard drive lawsuit has been expanded to more devices. The expanded suit, filed today, now includes Seagate's Barracuda 3TB Hard Disk Drive, Desktop HDD 3TB, Backup Plus 3TB External Hard Disk Drive, GoFlex 3TB External Hard Disk Drive, or any other Seagate hard drive with model number ST3000DM001. The law firm, Hagens Berman, is seeking information from consumers such as time in service, purchase price, and the nature of any drive received in return from Seagate as a replacement for a failed unit. http://bit.ly/1Pc34Cq
