Unofficial Apple show features beauty pageant, more
Conference organizer IDG has opened the doors to the second annual Macworld Asia, a trade show featuring local and international vendors of Apple accessories, keynote speeches, an exhibition floor and developer forum. Exhibitors familiar to North American Macworld attendees included Logitech, LaCie and Macally, according to a report from The Next Web. The show is similar to its US counterpart, with award ceremonies, showcases and product demos.

Will discuss company's financial performance
Apple CEO Tim Cook will address the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference in San Francisco tomorrow, February 14th, with Apple providing an audio webcast of the presentation. While video or audio recordings of Apple executives speaking at industry conferences are not unheard of, it is unusual for Apple itself to be hosting a live broadcast of its CEO speaking to an industry group. Cook is expected to discuss Apple's financial performance.

D: All Things Digital conference organizers Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg have announced that the AsiaD conference, being held in Hong Kong October 19th through 21st, has added Apple Vice President for Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller as well as Apple board of directors member and former Vice President Al Gore to its lineup of speakers, which includes tech executives from Asia as well as Silicon Valley and other tech companies.

Adobe will stream their presentation free
Either by sheer coincidence or simple bad planning, Adobe -- about to kick off its annual Adobe Max developer conference -- has scheduled an announcement from the company on Tuesday, October 4th at 10 a.m. Pacific time, exactly the same date and time that Apple will be making its highly-anticipated iPhone (and perhaps more) announcements at the company's town hall stage in Cupertino. Adobe has said even less than Apple about the nature of its announcement.

Developer on Diablo, Battle.net, Marvel Universe
Unite '11, the fifth annual developer conference for publishers using the Unity development platform for games and 3D, has announced that its keynote speaker will be Diablo and Diablo II co-creator and lead programmer David Brevik, president and COO of Gazillion Entertainment. Brevik will address the changes in the game industry, the growth of "social" games, free-to-play business models, download distribution and other topics. The conference features four days of activities.

Former Apple evangelist now a business guru
The annual MacTech Conference, aimed at IT professionals, enterprise Mac users and Apple developers, has announced that personal and business development author and former Apple evangelist Guy Kawasaki will be the keynote speaker at this year's convention, which takes place November 2-4, 2011 at the Sheraton Universal in Los Angeles. The dual-track conference focuses on IT and programming and development of software, with an emphasis this year on iOS 5, Mac OS X Lion and Apple's forthcoming iCloud services.

Macworld 2010 still on
Despite Apple's announcement that it will not exhibit at Macworld after 2009, IDG will continue to hold the conference through 2010 and beyond. Paul Kent, vice president and general manager of the expo, has expressed disappointment for the computer-maker's decision but provided reassurance that the changes would not put an end to the event. "We look forward to many more successful years of Macworld to come," he said.

Macworld registration open
Registrations for the Macworld Conference & Expo 2009 are now open, with show organizer IDG creating a brand new web site that offers enhanced Web 2.0 compatibility. The new website allows users to interact with Macworld attendees and other Mac users through Facebook, MySpace, and the Expo's own proprietary social network. The 2009 Expo will run from January 5th to the 9th, and several different passes available for varying schedules and event privileges.

Apple's mystery transition
One of the most interesting things to come out of Apple Apple's Investor Conference Call today has to do with what CFO Peter Oppenheimer would not talk about –- a mysterious "product transition." Oppenheimer told analysts that the transition will affect earnings in the September quarter and into next year, but –-- in keeping with Apple's long-standing policy of not commenting on future products –- he did not elaborate. Apple's profit margin in the third quarter was about 35 percent. The company's forecast calls for that margin to drop to 31.5 percent in the current quarter.

Apple Expo 08 dates events
Apple Expo '08 – Europe's major Apple conference, akin to Macworld in the US – is set to occur from September 17th to the 20th in Paris, France, and the organization has detailed several of the planned events. The Unofficial Apple Weblog details that the conference will see two iPhone events among the 30 other currently planned occasions. Access to the event is currently free, but will cost €12 without a pre-registered access badge.

Canadian Copyright Act
The Canadian government on Wednesday announced it would hold a press conference regarding pending amendments to the Copyright Act, a move said to resemble the DMCA measure in the US. The conference is set to transpire at 9:30 on Thursday, June 12th for press, with ministerial comments following at 10:45. Press have been advised that no wireless communications devices would be permitted at the assembly, including cell phones, modems, and wireless microphones.

3G iPhone impact mobile TV
Apple has a window of opportunity to make a significant impact on the mobile TV market with it's imminent launch of the 3G iPhone around the world, according to the latest report from Analysys Mason. Market research shows that many iPhone owners have accessed TV and video content, with greater frequency than subscribers using other types of mobile handsets. If a new iPhone based on AT&T faster "3G" network is announced during next week's Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) it could mean big things for the mobile TV market.

WWDC 2008 announced
Apple today announced dates for the Worldwide Developers Conference 2008, which will run from June 9th to the 13th. Apple advertises "Three Tracks to Innovation," through the iPhone, the Macintosh platform, and the IT sector. Each "Track" has a host of informative sessions for development techniques, with additional information available for animation techniques, technology integration, and several other Apple-specific services.

Nav N Go iPhone GPS
Ahead of Apple's official announcement of the iPhone software developer's kit, Nav N Go unveiled an iPhone GPS unit at the CeBIT 2008 conference in Hanover, Germany. According to Pocket-lint.co.uk, the device combines Nav N Go's iGO My Way 8 satnav software with an "upcoming, yet to be announced iPhone GPS receiver". The current distribution of the software requires a jailbroken iPhone, but could receive the official nod later today.

Wozniak on Apple TV, MBA
Steve Wozniak today hosted a keynote at an Australian broadband conference, and offered his mixed opinions on the Apple TV and the MacBook Air. Wozniak said that although he believes the Apple TV to be a "really good indication of the future of the world", the platform does have a few flaws. Primarily, he says that the 24-hour rental period is too limited for his busy schedule. Wozniak also said it feels as if he is being restricted by the tiny, simplified remote control, indicating it makes him feel less human.

NAB accounted for
Following up on the earlier report, Kristopher Jones, spokesman for the NAB conference, said that while Avid and Apple will be missed, the spaces have already been filled. The trade show, which generates more than $50 billion in commerce for its business partners, is featuring 220 new exhibitors this year, making the final count around 1600 exhibitors, according to SetteB.IT. NAB 2008 is expected to cover over 900,000 square feet at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Las Vegas Hilton, while hosting over 111,000 attendees.
