IntelliScanner have unveiled a new and improved rechargeable smart barcode scanner for wine collectors and enthusiasts, the Wine Collector 400, which features a memory capacity of up to 500 barcodes and integrates a wine store powered by Wine.com into the cellar-management software. The built-in memory capacity means that bottles can be scanned where they are stored rather than brought to the computer.

Barcode scanner works with software to gather data
IntelliScanner has released its Wine Collector mini, a software and hardware package for scanning barcodes and organizing wine collections. The scanner tracks wines based on the barcodes found on many wine bottles, while the software automatically recognizes wines, organizes them and visualizes collections in a virtual cellar. The scanner is USB-powered, rechargeable, and has memory for retaining scans until the data can be offloaded.

Company eliminating Windows CE-based portables
Apple is reportedly developing a new checkout system based on the iPod touch, according to an ifoAppleStore report posted on AppleInsider. The "EasyPay touch" configuration consists of an iPod case integrating a barcode scanner, additional battery cells and a magnetic stripe reader. The hardware is paired with custom point-of-sale (POS) software.

IntelliScanner has announced its IntelliScanner Pro, an inventory-management barcode scanner geared toward small-business customers. The USB-based scanner tracks inventory barcodes and utilizes included software to build a database for asset stocks, location and costs. The IntelliScanner Pro ships with asset-management software and pre-printed barcode tags for assets without barcodes, for $200. It works on Mac OS X 10.4 and higher, requiring a USB port.
