Huawei's seven-inch MediaPad X2 brings dual-SIM, octa-core

Huawei has introduced the seven-inch MediaPad X2 tablet at Mobile World Congress. The company promotes the MediaPad X1's successor as suitable for use as a phone, with dual SIM slots and a thin-bezel housing that measures just 7.3mm thick. The second generation promises to deliver improved call quality, enhanced software, and better camera and video features.

HP debuts larger 13.3-inch Windows 8 hybrid with Core CPUs

HP has added the new Split x2 13-inch Windows 8 hybrid that allows users use the device as a traditional notebook, or split the display and use it as a tablet. The device is one of the larger models in its breed coming in at 13.3-inches and will sit above the 11-6-inch Envy x2 in HPs lineup. The larger device is also powered by a choice of either Intel Core i3 or Core i5 3rd-gen processors, whereas an Intel Atom chip powers the smaller Envy x2.


Verizon releases Android 2.3 for Motorola Droid X2

New UI features added, bugs fixed

Verizon has begun rolling out Android 2.3 updates for Motorola's Droid X2 handset. The Gingerbread enhancements include a new Download Manager app, multi-touch keyboard shortcut options, improved copy-and-paste functionality, image geotagging, and a variety of new UI elements including widgets, icons and colors. The release also provides encryption options for the device and the SD card, along with VPN enhancements for business use.


Sprint June 9 event may pack dual-core Motorola Photon 4G

Sprint to unveil variant of Droid X2

The Sprint June 9 event may include the launch of the dual-core Motorola Photon 4G. The Photon 4G was thought to be a Sprint-specific variant of the Motorola Atrix. However, according to Phandroid, the Photon 4G will be more similar to the Droid X2 in size, hinting at a 4.3-inch, qHD display. A Tegra 2 SOC will also power it.


Eye-Fi releases Mobile X2 Wi-Fi enabled SDHC memory card

Eye-Fi, makers of Wi-Fi enabled SDHC memory cards such as the Pro X2, have announced their new Wi-Fi enabled memory card, the Mobile X2 for mobile device connectivity. The new 8GB card operates at Class 6 speed and can store up to 4000 photos or 3 hours of video with the added benefit of being able to transfer these directly to mobile devices in conjunction with Eye-Fis new iPhone and iPad app or its new Android app.


UK firm preps "iTablet" as response to Apple

X2 iTablet runs Win XP or Linux, netbook hardware

Relative newcomer X2 Computing today decided to seize on the frenzy surrounding the iPad by launching its own tablet. The conspicuously named iTablet follows "hot on the heels of Apple" and carries a 10- or 12-inch touchscreen; multi-touch will be optional. Rather than use tablet-optimized software, however, the device will use Windows 7 (Windows XP shown for reference) or Linux and should get Flash support as a result.
