Nvidia Quadro K1100M appears in upgraded HP Omen Pro

HP has unveiled an upgraded professional model of last year's Omen gaming notebook. The Omen Pro is billed as a high-powered mobile workstation that borrows the styling of the original, but manages to pack in higher-performance components inside its 19.9mm (0.78 inches) thick, 4.68-pound anodized aluminum unibody frame, including an Nvidia Quadro K1100M GPU with 2GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory.

Updated model for 2015 includes 4K Ultra HD, developer edition

The updated model of Dell's Precision M3800 mobile workstation was unveiled at the Sundance Film Festival today. The 15-inch M3800 is designed with ISV-certifications for video editors, graphic designers, and other high-demand users in mind, and is available now from Dell's online store. The new M3800 includes much-requested options, such as a 4K Ultra HD touch display and a new Ubuntu-based developer edition.

MSI WS60 portable workstation includes Core i7 processor, Windows 7

Computer hardware manufacturer MSI has unveiled a new work-focused notebook running Windows 7 Professional, which it touts as being thin and light for a portable workstation. Spiritual successor to the GS60 gaming notebook and weighing in 4.36 pounds and measuring under 0.8 inches thick, the WS60 boasts an Intel Core i7 processor clocked at 3.4GHz, with a choice of 15.6-inch 16:9 displays including a 2880x1620 resolution option and a 1080p version with eDP Wide View Angle technology.

Refresh centers around touchscreen functionality

Alongside HP's consumer-oriented announcements at CES, the company also unveiled its second-generation Z1 workstation all-in-one. The G2 variant retains the same modular design as its predecessor, unique among all-in-ones, with upgraded specs and touchscreen functionality. Primate Labs combines Geekbench 3 leak and Windows workstations for Mac Pro prediction

Apple's upcoming Mac Pro is set to be released in December -- and with its launch still a month away, speculations continue regarding how it will perform. Apple has not announced which processors will be used, but according to John Poole of Primate Labs, research suggests Xeon E5 is likely for all upcoming models. Furthermore, the specs of the suggested processors appear to line up with details posted on the official Mac Pro website.

Workstation focuses on design

Dell has introduced a new notebook, the M3800, that aims to pair workstation-level performance with an attractive aesthetic design. The 18mm-thick housing combines a carbon-fiber base with an aluminum frame and aluminum cover for the 15.6-inch touchscreen, which is protected by Gorilla Glass and features options for 1920x1080 or 3200x1800 resolutions.

Dell has revealed the Precision M3800 Workstation, a high-performance notebook that manages to keep its weight down to just 4.5-pounds. Despite packing in a powerful fourth-gen Intel quad-core Core i7 processor and Nvidia Quadro graphics, it also just 0.7-inches thick. Dell claims that it is the worlds thinnest and lightest workstation ever.

[Updated with real-world photo of the Mac Pro] Apple on Monday gave developers and the public a "sneak preview" of the next Mac Pro coming later this year -- a radical new "cannister" form factor in black that is 1/8th (by volume) the size of the previous model. It features a 12-core configuration based on all-new (E5) Intel Xeon processors, dual AMD-provided FirePro workstation graphics, new PCIe flash storage, new faster RAM, PCI Express gen 3 support, the ability to use up to three 4K-quality displays, and external outputs dominated by Thunderbolt 2.


HP ships Z1 27-inch AIO workstation

HP has begun shipping its Z1 all-in-one workstation, which was first unveiled earlier this year. The all-in-one is the company's first 27-inch model to integrate workstation features, including a unique housing that can be quickly opened without tools if internal parts need to be swapped or upgraded.

New HP notebook range features high-end graphics

HP has added two new product ranges to its lineup in new the Elitebook w series notebooks and an expanded Z Workstation line, the Z210 series. The new w series, which is to signify that they are mobile workstations, includes the HP EliteBook 8760w, 8560w and 8460w. As one might expect of desktop replacement notebooks, the new range is highly specified and incorporate graphics options including a choice of the AMD FirePro or NVIDIA Quadro with up to 4GB of dedicated VRAM available on the 8760w. Intel Sandy Bridge, second-gen Core i7 or Core i5 power the devices.
