Plans range between R249 and R925 per month
The South African branch of Vodacom is launching the iPhone 4S on December 16th, a Twitter post confirms. People interested in buying the device can visit a registration page to leave their name, phone number, upgrade status, and desired model. Vodacom cautions, though, that the form is "no guarantee" that a person will get a 4S, as "stocks are extremely limited" and a person's credit needs to be checked.
To end country's exclusivity
South Africa will get the iPhone 4 on Wednesday, September 22nd, a national business site reports. Two carriers are said to have confirmed launches, namely Vodacom and MTN. Vodacom sources say the company is planning a midnight launch party at its Vodaworld campus in Johannesburg; MTN may also be planning a midnight launch, but it will neither confirm nor deny the fact.
iPhone out in South Africa
The iPhone 3G is now officially on sale in South Africa. As announced, the phone is being carried there through Vodacom (Vodafone), which is selling 8 and 16GB phones at prices starting from R1,799 and R2,899, respectively. These prices apply only to the iPhone 500S package however, and increase if people choose a cheaper contract option. All contracts last two years.
Aussie, SA iPhone dates
Dates for the Australian and South African iPhones have allegedly been confirmed, according to a site in the latter country. The South African phone is said to have been announced for July 20th, sold by Vodacom, in which international carrier Vodafone is a majority shareholder. In May Vodafone announced plans to launch the iPhone in 10 new countries, including South Africa amongst the likes of Italy, Portugal, Greece and India.
