Dual drive docking station supports PATA, SATA
As a response to user requests, Startech unveiled the new Unidock 3U. The open dual hard drive docking station allows for one Serial ATA (SATA) and one older Parallel ATA (PATA or IDE) drive to be connected simultaneously with a USB 3 high-speed connection to the host computer.

Carlow, Poulson, Romley all planned to launch
Intel will expand its push in server platform, chipsets and processors into the second quarter of the year, DigiTimes reports. The chip company recently unveiled the E5-2600 series processors, which some believe will end up in refreshed Mac Pros in the near future, as well as three Xeon E5-1600 processors. It's set to debut a new server platform called Carlow that combines the USB 3-supporting Panther Point (C216) chipset with Ivy Bridge processors.

Also received certification for two-port version
Texas Instruments has won certification from the USB Implementer's Forum (USB-IF) for an all-USB 3 host controller that can be incorporated into expansion cards using PCIe, ExpressCard and other implementations suitable for notebooks, servers, HDTVs, gaming consoles and other devices. The controller uses full state-machine architecture to avoid any external storage needs (such as EEPROMs or flash memory), which should lower the cost of manufacture.

Hub connects via SuperSpeed USB cable
LaCie has introduced a new USB hub, the Hub4, designed for USB 3.0-equipped computers. The hub integrates four USB 3.0 ports, supporting combined speeds of up to 5Gbps when connected to a single USB 3.0 port on a computer. Users can also connect via USB 2.0, but at the slower 480Mbps data transfer speeds.
