UMID said going out of business, stops exporting MIDs to US

UMID may be shutting down according to Dynamism

Gadget importer Dynamism today told a potential buyer that UMID was shutting down. The note claimed that the Korean company had "gone out of business" and would stop making its Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs), including the mbook BZ, M1 and yet-to-be-launched SE (pictured). It didn't say to the buyer and Pocketables reader what would have happened to UMID.

New mBook M2 from UMID spotted

mBook M2 UMPC packs 1.6GHz Atom, Windows 7

Korea's UMID will soon release the successor to its mBook M1 UMPC simply known as the mBook M2. Changes include a new exterior with a wider opening angle, a conventional USB port instead of needing a dongle, and a new VGA video output. There is also a new optical mouse integrated into the screen frame, while RAM has been doubled to 1GB. Processors are also different, with the standard 1.2GHz Intel Atom slightly slower than the outgoing model's 1.33GHz Atom, while the optional CPU is faster, at 1.6GHz.
