HTC CEO Peter Chou is confident his company's newest product, the Touch Diamond, will sell more than two million units in 2008. Last year, HTC
sold about two million units of its original Touch handset. Still, the numbers represent only about half of all iPhones Apple sold last year, with the company hoping to sell 10 million in 2008.

HTC's Touch Diamond smartphone has already appeared at the FCC through a filing published today. Though the phone was only announced as shipping for the second half of 2008 in North America, the device has already been passed through the US agency for approval in the US, including its operating frequencies and placement of an FCC label.

Readdle on Tuesday announced plans to unveil an iPhone 2.0 application of its as-of-now web service, allowing users to read documents on their iPod touch or iPhone when offline. The company also claims the native application will enhance the service's functionality, citing seamless storage, page-by-page reading, bookmarks, and optimized PDF rendering, among other options. Readdle has not announced whether it will charge for the application when the iPhone application store launches.

HTC this morning at a London press event unveiled its anticipated Touch Diamond, the company's first major update to the core Touch model since its unveiling a year ago. The phone is the first to incorporate HTC's new TouchFLO 3D interface and uses it to access messaging, media, and other features without reverting to a stylus or the directional pad; common operations such as calling should be usable with just one finger, the company claims. To support the new interface, the Diamond uses Windows Mobile 6.1 and includes a 640x480, 2.8-inch touchscreen that offers four times the crispness of the original, 320x240 Touch.

HTC's Touch Diamond smartphone has been all but completely revealed today through a set of photos leaked today by NewsMobile. The sequel to the original Touch is now known to earn its Diamond name through a subtle, angular geometry on the back that recalls Nokia's Prism lineup. The Diamond will also be narrower than the original, but will also be taller courtesy of dedicated Back and Home buttons alongside the control pad.

Griffin on Thursday unveiled two new cases for the iPod nano and Touch, the FlexGrip and FlexScreen, as well as the Screen Care Kit for iPod Touch. The FlexGrip is a dual-color ribbed case which offers complete protection for both the Touch and the Nano, while leaving access to the screen and touchwheel uninhibited. The case currently only ships with a black front and grey backing, offering a refined look. Griffin is selling the FlexGrip for $15, and is available directly from the company's website and select retailers.

The upcoming HTC press event in London on May 6th promises to bring not just information on the Touch Diamond and Touch Pro but also more regarding the Titanium and Touch Find, say a number of leaks. Further rumors from GSMArena corroborate reports that the Titanium may be called Touch DUAL Pro when it launches and replace the original model. It should be similar in spec to the Diamond but add a 12 or 20 key sliding keypad depending on the country, the sharper 640x480 screen, Wi-Fi, and a sharper 3-megapixel camera.

The next generation of Apple's phone should include a significantly smaller phone that may replace the existing model, according to claims by Taiwan Economic News. The paper echoes recent rumors in claiming that the device will use a plastic backing in place of aluminum but also contends that the device will be significantly smaller than the original, with a 2.8-inch screen replacing the 3.5-inch model used today. The combination of a lighter material and smaller frame is said to reduce the weight to between 3.9 and 4.2 ounces from the initial model's 4.8.

HTC's still-mysterious Diamond and Raphael touchscreen phones already have formal names and may be the devices announced at next month's press event, according to an investigation by MoDaCo. The Raphael is now set to be called the Touch Pro and will replace the button-driven Kaiser (AT&T Tilt and Sprint Mogul) in the company's high-end smartphone line. Its keyboard slides out flat rather than at an angle and is likely deisgned this way to reduce the thickness of the design.

T-Mobile USA expects to carry at least one phone based on Google's Android platform by the end of the year -- and may start with the HTC Dream, according to sources. Company broadband head Joe Sims says he has seen a prototype of one of the Linux-based phones and was "impressed" by the device. He notes that the phone is poised to ship in the fourth quarter of the year and that it will be part of a larger shift at T-Mobile towards open devices that should include more than one Android device.

Flying Mac today unveiled FarFinder, a remote file access for the Mac that allows users to browse and retrieve their files from their Mac using a standard web browser. In addition to working on a desktop or laptop computer, FarFinder can also be used through Safari on the iPhone and iPod touch. Since files can't really be downloaded to the iPhone, FarFinder will email the file to a desired address. FarFinder is currently available at a special price of $20.

Apple has released the second beta of its iPhone SDK for registered developers. The new release includes an Interface Builder, which allows the drag-and-drop integration of graphical components which can be linked to underlying Objective-C code created in Xcode. The new SDK build is a 1.3GB download, available from Apple's Developer Connection site. You must be a registered developer to download the SDK, but no fee or program acceptance is required. Apple's development kit uses the same programming language and interface used by Apple itself and now includes Cocoa Touch, an API designed to add touchscreen input.

MacNN has discovered that the BBC is reportedly working on a version of its iPlayer software for the iPhone and iPod touch, which was spotted ahead of Apple's announcements at 10AM Pacific. When visiting the BBC iPlayer website through the portable devices, a small, inactive link appears in the corner of the main window, indicating that a beta version of the player software will soon be available. Details have not been released, but with the SDK event due any moment, the BBC will hopefully put an official spin on the find.

The G400 inherits the look and feel of Samsung's 'Soul' with a unique premium exterior and graphical user interface design identity, boasting a high gloss metallic finish with a hairline texture. The G400 also offers a new series of graphical user interfaces (GUIs) that provide three different options for users: GUI skin allows users to personalize the user interface with various options like background images, fonts, and colors.
