Storage vendor G-Technology has has announced two new transportable 8-bay RAID storage solutions. The new G-Speed Shuttle XL with ev Series Bay Adapters and G-Speed Shuttle XL are designed with an integrated handle to easily move the enclosure and fit inside a standard protective case that can be placed into an overhead airline compartment.
Other World Computing (OWC), announced the availability of the OWC Drive Dock, a new docking station that allows creative professionals and other users of large amounts of data to easily hot-swap, and quickly access, store and transfer information from bare SATA drives. The OWC Drive Dock is compatible with both Mac and PC systems, and provides two drive bays that each can accommodate either 2.5- or 3.5-inch drives.
Sonnet has finally started shipping the Echo 15+ Thunderbolt 2 Dock, which if first announced more than two years ago. In part, the delay was due to the announcement of Thunderbolt 2 shortly after Sonnet began accepting pre-orders, pushing the breakout box into 2014. From there, production issues have keep the unit off shelves until now, and the now-shipping dock offers four USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt 2 ports, a FireWire 800 port, two 6Gb/s eSATA ports, and more.
Storage vendor HighPoint has announced the availability of the RocketStor 631xA eight- and four-Bay Hardware RAID towers. Each compact brushed-aluminum tower enclosure is powered by our HighPoint's RAID technology, and dual 20Gbps Thunderbolt 2 ports, which supports hardware RAID 0, 1, 5 6, 10, 50 and JBOD configurations.
Akitio today announced the availability of the new 12TB Thunder2Quad Mini Thunderbolt 2 portable storage engineered with 4K workflows in mind. With up to 22 hours of 4K video storage on tap and, the Thunder2Quad is available as an enclosure only or populated with up to 12TB of storage in the form of four 2.5-inch 3TB SSDs.
Accessory manufacturer Belkin today introduced the Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD with cable, a cross-platform docking solution designed for both OS X and Windows-based computers. Equipped with two Thunderbolt 2 ports, the new dock allows users to take full advantage of the technology's high-speed 20Gbps bandwidth, and provides reliable transfers between laptops and up to eight other devices connected through the dock using a single Thunderbolt cable.
Storage solutions provider G-Technology announced the first extension of its Studio line, the G-Speed Studio XL. Expanding on the two–bay G-RAID Studio and four-bay G-Speed Studio Thunderbolt 2 storage solutions which launched earlier this year, the G-Speed Studio XL holds up to eight removable enterprise-class 7,200 RPM hard drives. Fully populated and properly configured, the array is capable of moving in excess of 1.3GB per second.
HighPoint Technologies has launched the "world's first" Thunderbolt 2-powered connectivity dock, the RocketStor 6351A. Each of the dual five-gigabit-per-second USB 3.0 ports and 6Gb per second eSATA port is powered by dedicated controller, allowing for peak speed for connected peripherals. Audio and Gigabit Ethernet ports round out connectivity options, with a pass-through Thunderbolt 2 port to daisy chain up to five devices downstream of the dock.
British headphone producer RHA has announced the upcoming release of its latest in-ear headphones, the T10i. Featuring handmade dynamic drivers, the noise-cancelling headphones possess a custom tuning filter system that allows for frequency response adjustment. Filter adjustments are also included for bass and treble response. Each high-fidelity driver is encased in an ergonomic stainless steel housing; other features include a multi-core, 1.35m (53-inch) oxygen-free copper cable with three-button remote and microphone (suitable for Apple devices) and mouldable over-ear hooks. Priced at $200, the T10i headphones will be available for purchase in Apple stores worldwide starting September 5.
Cloud storage platform Dropbox has updated its iOS app today. Allowing users to access any file saved to their Dropbox from an iOS device, v3.3 can now offer search within Word and PowerPoint documents. Larger animated GIFs are supported, and improved caching allows the app to use less data and disk space.
