Taiwan's Teclast has shed some light on its latest upcoming portable multimedia player, the T58. Most significantly, it will run on Google's Android open source operating system and confirmed specs include 720p video playback, with supported video files that include RMVB, AVS, H.264, MPEG-4 and WMV9. Wi-Fi is integrated, with GPS a strong possibility.
An upcoming portable multimedia player from Teclast has been spotted along with its specifications. The T56 uses a 5-inch color display with an 800x480 resolution, but it should support up to 1080p and display it at native size thanks to its HDMI output. Because of the touch buttons on the face of the device, the screen isn't likely to have touch capability. The device does, however, sport an integrated GPS sensor, along with an SD memory card slot. Internal memory capacity, if any, is unspecified.
Teclast has begun offering one of the few media players beyond the iPod touch to supply a multi-touch display, according to an update from a firm picking up the device. The T50 shares a very similar software interface to that of the Apple player and recognizes multi-finger input: swipes with two fingers zoom through images. The interface is also sensitive enough to recognize flicks and other quick gestures for scrolling through lists.
A new media player by Asia's Teclast is directly targeting the iPhone and the iPod touch. Like the Apple devices, the M26 is almost entirely touchscreen controlled, but Teclast is specifically marketing the player as using the same type of capacitive technology as the iPhone, permitting light finger gestures. The M26 differs mainly by way of having a 2.6-inch, 400x200 screen, and playing AVI, RealVideo and even Flash video files. Neither the iPhone nor the Touch support Flash.
