Apple recruits host of former SurfaceInk engineers

Hirings coincide with broken corporate dealings

Apple has hired an unusually large number of people from SurfaceInk in recent weeks, evidence reveals. Six workers left the latter company in August, giving Apple three product development engineers, two product design engineers and a mechanical engineer. In September Apple has so far hired just one person, who is now serving as a consulting product design engineer.

Apple has ended a relationship with Silicon Valley firm SurfaceInk, according to the CEO of the latter company, Eric Bauswell. The exact link between the two parties is unclear, a result of confidentiality agreements. Bauswell claims, however, that Apple broke things off because of "growing awareness of our [SurfaceInk's] turnkey capabilities." Turnkey refers to the concept of creating products that can be quickly licensed to interested businesses.
