July 25 - 7:55am EDT   Samsung today said it prospered in the spring quarter based primarily on its cellphone and LCD businesses. The Korean company says it sold 45.7 million phones between April and June, a 22 percent boost over spring 2007. Many of these phones were also mid-range or premium models, with over one million Soul 5-megapixel cameraphones being sold; sales of pricier 3G phones jumped 41 percent, the electronics creator says. June 20 - 10:00am EDT   Over one million units of Samsung's Soul designer phone have sold since it went on sale a month ago, the company says. Although limited to just Europe for its initial launch, the device has been one of the most popular phones in recent weeks and has sold better in this early stage than the iPhone managed in the first quarter of the year, when Apple sold 1.7 million units in three months. May 29 - 8:25am EDT   Samsung today hoped to capitalize on the success of the Soul with the Soulb, its latest candybar phone. It drops the touchscreen keypad of the original slider but compensates with an ultra-thin design and media features: the handset is just 0.39in thick but still finds room for a 3-megapixel camera with an LED flash, 1GB of built-in flash memory, and a microSD slot for extra storage.
