Firm bringing Vista SideShow to iPhone

December 21 - 4:40pm EST   Ikanos Consulting has revealed a new web app that should bring most of the features of Windows Vista's SideShow auxiliary display technology to Apple's latest handheld devices. Beta 3 of the firm's Go Gadgets utility depends on new web rendering code that simulates a native iPhone or iPod touch program while still offering remote functionality to use content from a Vista computer regardless of its current state: users can receive news feeds, navigate PowerPoint presentations, and steer music playback from the Apple hardware. BenQ rolls out Q41 notebook with Sideshow and VoIP

December 20 - 9:25am EST   BenQ today provided the surprise of a completely new entry in its Joybook portable line. The Q41 is the first notebook from the company to offer an external display for Windows Vista's SideShow feature: a 2.5-inch LCD on the outer lid lets users access e-mail, media, and simple games from the system even while turned off. Completely unique to BenQ, however, is the SideShow display's VoIP feature: owners can place Internet phone calls without having to boot up the main system and start conventional software, the company boasts.
