Nokia unveils 207, 208 feature phones for emerging markets, Europe

Series 40 devices have 2.4-inch QVGA displays, 256MB storage

Nokia has revealed a pair of low-cost feature phones, aimed at emerging markets and for those wanting a spare, emergency phone. The Nokia 207 and Nokia 208 candybar-style phones will offer basic phone functioinality, with access to the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks over its 3.5G-capable radios.

Instant messenger connects to Yahoo, adds location broadcasting

Nokia has updated its instant-messaging service for Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8-based Lumias and Asha smartphones. Previously used on Symbian and Series 40 devices before being replaced by Ovi services, Nokia Chat refreshes the app with a modern interface, along with a number of other social aspects as seen in other messaging systems.

First smartphone with Nokia Easy Swap Dual SIM support

Nokia has announced a new addition to its line of Series 40 phones. The Asha 310 follows on from the Asha 308 and Asha 309 in being a budget-oriented smartphone, and is the first Asha handset to have Nokia's Easy Swap Dual SIM support, a feature which allows the user to assign unique profiles for up to five SIM cards.


Nokia, Microsoft pledge 18m euros to Windows Phone app devs

Nokia, Microsoft fund apps development program

In the hopes of building up the app ecosystem for the Windows Phone platform in the long term, both Microsoft and Nokia on Monday have pledged to commit 9 million euros (about $12m) each to a new developer program at Finland's Aalto University. Called AppCampus, the project aims to attract budding and established developers for the ecosystem. The program will also result in apps for Nokia's Symbian and Series 40 platforms.
