Android 3.2 spied early for the HTC Flyer

09/05, 6:05pm

HTC Flyer Android 3 upgrade leaks

HTC Flyer owners got a preview of what the Android 3.2 upgrade will look like on the tablet after a leaked build was given an unofficial preview. The OS resembles a smaller version of that from the Jetstream and mostly has the same light touch in terms of Sense widgets and skinning the interface to fit HTC's preferred look. The XDA-Developers forum goers testing it out have noted that the Scribe pen works, however, up to and including the hardware pen button.

HTC Jetstream becomes first LTE tablet at ATT

AT&T began carrying its first 10-inch tablet outside of the iPad on Wednesday with the formal launch of the HTC Jetstream. Previously known as the Puccini, the 10-inch Android 3.1 tablet is the carrier's first non-modem to support LTE for its 4G, with a fallback to a still-fast HSPA+ 3G if necessary. The slate is much faster than the seven-inch Flyer through a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon fast enough to both record and play 1080p video.

An EU trademark for "HTC Sensation" makes reference to it being for "user interface software" and "telecommunications services" for mobile devices of various kinds, including computers and phones. The name clearly recalls HTC's usual Sense UI from its phones and suggests an expansion.

HTC Scribe trademark hints at Android tablet

HTC's Honeycomb-based Android tablet may have received its final name through a new US Patent and Trademark office filing. An application on December 26 for a "Scribe" name refers to the name as belonging to a "handheld wireless device, namely, a tablet computer." It's implied by the name that handwriting is involved, but none of HTC's mainstream smartphones of the past two years have included a pen.
