Allows answering, following questions anonymously
Q&A service Quora has released a major update of its iPhone app, v2.0. Aside from now supporting the iPhone 5, the app uses a new interface said to get "out of the way" during use, for instance scrolling the search bar offscreen. Search is nevertheless said to be easier to access, and three times faster.
Social questions now answered in Bing sidebar
Microsoft will be adding information from social questioning site Quora into the results for its Bing search engine. The new addition was announced today in a post from the Bing Team. The addition of Quora marks another step in Microsoft's continuing effort to grow market share for its search engine, which so remains in the shadow of market leader Google.
$61 million total gathered in two rounds
Peter Thiel and his Northbridge Venture Partners fund have injected $50 million into Quora, the crowd-sourced question and answer website. During the initial funding the company was valued at $86 million. Now, Quora is valued at $400 million following this round of funding. No financial plan for growth has been publicly announced for the second round of funding.
Combines web services with location functions
Question-and-answer website Quora has launched its first-ever app for the iPhone and iPod touch. The title serves a similar purpose to the Quora website, letting people ask their own questions, answer others, and root through a database of existing topics. A distinguishing feature is the addition of Nearby, which places topics on a map, letting people read or respond to questions about the things around them.
