Netgear launched some other networking devices at CES, accompanying the two routers, items that can help increase the coverage of your home network. The PowerLine Wi-Fi 1000 Adapter Kit is said to give up to one gigabit of connectivity through a home's electrical system, double the speed of previous powerline products, while two Wi-Fi range extenders include the first wall plug extender shipping under the Nighthawk premium router name.
D-Link has used CES to launch a new range of strikingly-designed Wi-Fi routers, as well as more powerline networking products. The AC5300, AC3200, and AC3100 Ultra Wi-Fi Routers all tout high wireless network speeds, while the PowerLine AV2 1000 and 2000M kits claim to provide fast wired network speeds using the home's power supply.
TP-Link detailed the new AV200 Mini Powerlink Adapter starter kit. With one button 128-bit AES encryption synchronization to a paired device, the AV200 turns a single spur of household electrical cabling of up to 300 meters into an encrypted network connection capable of 200Mbps.
Buffalo Technology is entering the Powerline-based broadband extension accessory markets later this year with the Airstation Nfinity PL-05H adapter and the WPL-05G300 router and wireless access point. The Powerline system can be used to extend a broadband network by transmitting data over household electrical wiring, allowing any room in a home to be used as an access point where a wireless network can be created. The new products are also faster than previous Powerline versions.
Trendnet on Friday made two key pre-CES unveilings, including two wireless products based on the new 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard. Trendnet's first devices include the TEW-811DR AC router and Dual Band Media Bridge, the TEW-800MB. At their best, they can reach 802.11ac's peak transfer speed of 1.3Gbps, roughly three times faster than 802.11n.
