Samsung's second handset equipped with a 12-megapixel camera has been spotted on Monday and may just replace the current 12-megapixel offering from the phone maker, the Pixon12. The phone, so far only known as the SCH-W880, was spotted in a Taiwanese print ad that reveals the handset's camera as well as 3X optical zoom and the ability to record HD videos. It should also have a 3.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen with WVGA (800x480) resolution.
Samsung this morning bowed a new flagship camera phone. The Pixon12 upgrades the original Pixon with a namesake 12-megapixel camera that offers the highest resolution in a cellphone camera. It also gets a 28mm wide-angle lens and Xenon flash to produce shots closer to a dedicated compact camera. A 3.1-inch AMOLED screen also plays into the photography role: it more accurately reflects the view with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and lets owners autofocus on a specific point just by touching that area on the screen.
In addition to the just-introduced Haptic 2, Samsung has introduced a second touchscreen phone already examined by Russian site Mail.ru. The M8800 Pixon is the first known touchscreen cellphone to carry an eight-megapixel camera and carries extra photography features normally reserved for dedicated cameras, including blink and face detection, a wide dynamic color range and image stabilization. Video capture is also sharper than most at a roughly DVD-level 720x480 at full speed.
