Microsoft GeoSynth to compete with Google Street View

March 22 - 10:00pm EDT   Microsoft has announced plans to launch a mapping service, GeoSynth, that will take on Google’s Street View mapping feature, according to Pocket-lint. The new service will use Photosynth technology to merge high-definition photos taken and submitted by the general public, and then relate the content according to geographic data. Microsoft posts Seadragon app for iPhones

The software is an extension of Microsoft's Photosynth image-browsing technology, which links hundreds or thousands of photos together into a single image, measuring as large as a gigapixel. August 21 - 12:45am EDT   Microsoft on Wednesday unveiled a new technology for viewing and relating photographs called Photosynth, offering users a three-dimensional, 360-degree view of almost any environment.
