Nikon has announced the successor to the V1 mirrorless 1 System camera. The V2 uses an upgraded 14.2-megapixel CX-format CMOS sensor with a light sensitivity of between 160 and 640 ISO. An Expeed 3A image processor is aided by the Advance Hybrid Auto Focus system, which can switch between a 73-point phase detection and a 135-point contrast-detect AF system.
Nikon's new 1 System-based mirrorless cameras, the V1 and J1 are now available for pre-order, with a ship date of November 15 at Amazon. This is slightly behind schedule, as they were promised to be available on October 20, but may have been affected by the supply shortage due to the factory flood in Thailand. The J1 is priced at $649 while the V1 costs $899.
Some early photos of what is expected to be the new Nikon D7000 DSLR and related accessories have been leaked slightly ahead of schedule thanks to Nikon Rumors. The camera is expected to replace the D90 and get dual memory card slots, though this is yet to be confirmed. Otherwise shown for the first time are the Speedlight SB-700 external flash as well as new AF-S 35mm f/1.4 and AF-S 200mm f/2.0G IF-ED N VRII Nikkor lenses. All are due for an official release tomorrow, September 15.
