Fast on the heels of Apple's launch of the new Mac mini, NewerTech has launched 8GB RAM upgrade kits for the new device. The new RAM chips are PC8500 DDR3 1066MHz CL7 204 pin SO-DIMM memory modules. The 8GB kit is a pair of 4GB modules, and a single 4GB module option is also available.
Newer Technology has launched new RAM upgrade kits for iMacs, Mac minis, MacBook Pros and MacBooks, the NuRAM DDR3 1066MHz RAM. The RAM kits allow for up to 16GB on systems that offer four slots, with pairs of PC8500 DDR3 1066MHz CL7 204-pin SO-DIM modules. The RAM chips are all 4GB modules, available in single- or dual-unit packages for MacBooks and MacBook Pros, and sets of four -- 16GB total -- for iMacs.
NewerTech has launched the Mini DisplayPort with 5.1-Channel Digital Audio to HDMI Adapter. The new device allows users to connect HD monitors or televisions to a wide range of Mac computers via the Mini DisplayPort. It offers support for full 1080p resolution, along with uncompressed 5.1-channel audio. User’s can power the adapter through the computer’s USB port, and are given over three feet of cable to manage. Features include support for bandwidth speeds up to 2.25Gbps per-channel, and a dedicated TOSLINK audio cable for receiving an audio signal from the Mac’s headphone jack.
Newer Technology has launched its NewerTech Intelligent Battery Charging Stations for 13-inch Unibody MacBook and 15-inch MacBook Pros released prior to June, 2009. The charger/conditioner models, claimed to be the first-to-market, feature two battery bays for charging multiple batteries. One battery can be charged while another is being conditioned prior to charging.
OWC has announced it is shipping copies of Drive Genius 2.1.1 for as low as $25, a $75 reduction, when bought with qualifying OWC or NewerTech storage products. There are nearly 200 qualifying products available on OWC's website, including OWC's Mercury line -- Elite-AL Pro Single, Dual bay and Mirror RAID drives, rack-mount storage, Elite Pro Firewire drives and On-The-Go portable drives. OWC's network storage based NASPerform storage is also included, as are NewerTech MiniStacks, MAXimus RAIDs and Voyager Q/S2 products.
NewerTech has announced two new products at Macworld Expo: Voyager Q Hard Drive Docking Base and NuCube (booth S-2322). Voyager Q is a docking platform for any standard 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA I/II hard drive (up to 2TB capacity) that includes four interfaces for users to choose from: FireWire 800, FireWire 400, USB 2.0, and eSATA. The NuCube features a thick 3/8-inch clear acrylic case for the Mac Mini that holds the device in a vertical position and is equipped with non-skid rubber feet, to help keep it in place. Heat tested to insure the mini stays cooler while vertical; the case offers full access to the CD-ROM drive slot and rear ports.
