Even as stock of the Apple Watch in first-wave countries like the US remains relatively constrained, Apple continued its expansion of the product by opening online ordering for the Apple Watch in nine new countries today, and announcing a further three would be able to begin selling the Watch on July 17. In addition to new ordering pages went live for Italy, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland and Taiwan, Apple said that the next round of debuts would start in mid-July with The Netherlands, Sweden, and Thailand.
The European Court of Justice (CJEU) is going to revisit the question of whether or not linking to infringing material online is infringing in its own right. A lawsuit between an entertainment blog and the publisher of Playboy in the Netherlands over the leaking of unpublished photographs has led to the CJEU being asked to clarify current European copyright law in relation to content linking.
Uber's European ambitions has received a setback, after four drivers in Amsterdam were arrested for operating a taxi service in the city by using the Uber app. The drivers have since been released by the Dutch police, but face fines as high as 4,200 euros ($5,300) each, over a matter which amounts to a licensing issue, and could be the first time UberPop drivers receive a fine for using the service.
Google has said that it is making a four-year investment into the construction of a new data center in the Netherlands. The data center, being built in Eemshaven, will cost the company approximately $772 million to construct (€600 million). The new data center marks the fourth built in Europe, following construction in Ireland, Belgium and Finland.
The second group of international iPhone 6/6 Plus launches will happen on September 26, checks at Apple's international storefronts indicate. Some countries discovered so far include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Taiwan, Turkey, Russia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. The United Arab Emirates will get the new phones on September 27.
Construction of a new Apple datacenter is underway on Curaçao, reports say. Curaçao is an island off the coast of Venezuela, but a constituent country of the Netherlands. The center is said to be nearly complete already; the original company behind the project went bankrupt however, forcing the Unique Infrastructure Group to take over.
Apple is set to open its third Dutch Apple Store on Saturday, August 9th at 10AM local time, according to an official store listing. Located at Passage 39 in the Hague, the shop will have most of Apple's regular design features, with the notable distinction of a 360-degree Genius Bar. Most Apple Stores use a counter arrangement for technical support.
Apple's Volume Purchase Program is coming to 16 more locations in the near future, according to pages on the company's Business and Education sites. Most of the new regions are in Europe, including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland. Also joining in are Hong Kong, Mexico, Singapore, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.
Apple has opened registration for the 2014 edition of its annual Apple Camps. The program is aimed at teaching creative projects to kids aged 8 to 12 while simultaneously promoting Apple products. This year, two sets of three-day workshops are available: one is dedicated to creating a short film using iMovie and the iPad version of GarageBand, while the other involves producing an interactive book using iBooks Author and illustrations done on an iPad.
As was hinted yesterday, the European Commission has announced a formal investigation of Apple, Fiat, and Starbucks for possible tax evasion. In particular the probe will concentrate on Apple's affiliates in Ireland, Starbucks' footprint in the Netherlands, and Fiat Finance and Trade in Luxembourg. "In the current context of tight public budgets, it is particularly important that large multinationals pay their fair share of taxes," states Joaquín Almunia, the Commission's VP for competition policy. "Under the EU's state aid rules, national authorities cannot take measures allowing certain companies to pay less tax than they should if the tax rules of the Member State were applied in a fair and non-discriminatory way."

Seagate 3TB unreliability suit expands
The Seagate 3TB class-action hard drive lawsuit has been expanded to more devices. The expanded suit, filed today, now includes Seagate's Barracuda 3TB Hard Disk Drive, Desktop HDD 3TB, Backup Plus 3TB External Hard Disk Drive, GoFlex 3TB External Hard Disk Drive, or any other Seagate hard drive with model number ST3000DM001. The law firm, Hagens Berman, is seeking information from consumers such as time in service, purchase price, and the nature of any drive received in return from Seagate as a replacement for a failed unit. http://bit.ly/1Pc34Cq
