Native Instruments on Tuesday announced the release of version 1.5 of its Komplete Kontrol software offering. The new update will open Native Instruments' Komplete Kontrol and Maschine software "to the whole community of software instrument developers," allowing them to better customize the digital instruments they develop, and better integrate their software instruments with compatible controllers.Â
All-in-one DJ solution looks to remove focus on laptops, adds high-resolution displays
A new entry in Native Instruments Traktor series of DJ controllers was unveiled today, with the Traktor Kontrol S8. The newest model in the company's flagship line looks to change the way DJ move into the future, by pulling emphasis away from the laptop in order to focus more on the crown. Native Instruments does this by adding technology to controllers, such as high-resolution LCD displays that respond to touch-sensitive controls.
Sale pricing for Reaktor 5 software in effect, User Library updated
Native Instruments today announced its limited time offer on Reaktor 5 software. An audio synthesizing program, Reaktor 5 includes over 70 instruments and effects, ranging from classic synthesizers and sample techniques. Its reconstructed Rektor User Library offers optimized navigation, with newly-enhanced searching and sorting for improved device browsing. Videos and tutorials from Bluewater VST and ADSR are now featured, including content from accredited techno artist Mike Huckaby. Until May 28, Reaktor 5 is available at the Native Instruments' store for $100, though it regularly priced at $400.
Traktor Audio 2 DJ interface now features iOS compatibility
Native Instruments announced today that its DJ audio interface Traktor Audio 2 now offers iOS compatibility. Traktor Audio 2 delivers 24-bit/48kHz audio in a portable format, and is now among the variety of iOS-compatible hardware by Native Instruments. Its two 1/8-inch stereo outputs can be connected to a standard DJ mixer, allowing for two Traktor decks to be mixed simultaneously. Available through various retailers as well as the Native Instruments online store, Traktor Audio 2 is priced at $100.

Native Instruments today released new versions of both the 4+1 channel DJ system Traktor Kontrol S4 and its 2+1 channel counterpart, Traktor Kontrol S2. The S4 and S2 combine a premium DJ mixing interface, built-in 24 bit/96 kHz sound card, and an intuitive interface engineered for control of Traktor software. Both all-in-one DJ systems now offer an improved look and feel, with added control over the latest Traktor Pro 2 features.
New app allows bidirectional workflow between the iPad and computer
Rhythm software maker Native Instruments today released Traktor DJ, built from the ground up for the iPad. The app is aimed at DJs of all levels from novices to touring professionals. Created by the same team behind the Traktor brand, the new app puts the waveform in the center of user interaction, featuring two decks, each with dedicated three-band EQ and filter sections, as well as eight proven Traktor effects.
Native Instruments shows off future 16-bank mixer
Native Instruments, a maker of DJ hardware, has just teased an upcoming product through a video embedded below. Technical details are non-existent at this time, but the new device looks like a combination of the company's current Maschine production studio and its Kontrol X1 user interface. It combines an external mixer and turntables.
Native Instruments Maschine Mikro targets entry DJ
Native Instruments picked Monday to roll out both a small, lower-cost option for its digital DJ hardware and an iOS app to complement the set. The Maschine Mikro is about two thirds the size of its larger sibling and has a single display and a master controller that can be reassigned on the spot. It still preserves the 16 drum pads and gets access to the full suite of feature tie-ins with the Maschine desktop app.
Free Scratch Upgrade Kit
An updated version of Diacarta, a mobile planning utility, has been released in the App Store. The v2.0 release features a completely new engine that brings support for syncing with the native calendar. The precision of adding and moving events around the clock has also been improved, while Facebook and Twitter integration has been promised for an upcoming update. Additionally, the developers have announced a new partnership with Pitchfork that will result in the creation of an official iOS app for this year's Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago.
Graphic Node outs new Keynote themes
A new package of Vintage Compressors has been added to Native Instruments' Guitar Rig 4 and Guitar Rig Player software. Developed in collaboration with Softube, the package features three different compressor models, dubbed the VC 76, VC 2A and VC 160. The VC 76 has been optimized for drums and vocals, the VC 2A for vocals, bass and guitar, while the VC 160 is most appropriate for string instruments and individual drums. All three emulators offer the full feature set of their analog predecessors, including a side chain input with an adjustable high-pass filter. Vintage Processors is available as a download in the NI Online Shop for $229, with individual models offered for $119 each.
Traktor Kontrol S4 DJ system due this winter
Native Instruments on Monday said it will soon ship its Traktor Kontrol S4 DJ system. The company's first complete DJ system comes with special Traktor Pro software and sports a four-channel mixer section and an integrated low-latency 24bit/96kHz audio interface. Users can loop, cue, introduce effects and browse tracks.
KOMPLETE 7 ELEMENTS adds GUITAR RIG 4, REAKTOR 5
Native Instruments has released upgrades to its music effects packages, KOMPLETE 7 and KOMPLETE 7 ELEMENTS. Geared toward music producers, KOMPLETE 7 combines 24 instruments and effects and includes the latest versions of ABSYNTH 5, BATTERY 3.1, FM8, GUITAR RIG 4.1, KONTAKT 4.1 and MASSIVE, resulting in a package with over 10,000 sounds and 90 GB of samples.
New instruments, drum sounds, editing in v1.5
Native Instruments has launched Maschine 1.5, updating the music production software with increased functionality and 50 new or improved features. Maschine integrates software and MPC-style hardware. The MIDI-capable hardware has 8 stereo outputs and includes a sequencer with sampling and slicing capabilities, while the software provides access to 6GB of samples and loops.
Package geared for movie, TV and game producers
Native Instruments has announced that its Evolve Mutations instrument package has been updated with new content. Version 2 brings over 300 new sounds based on 2GB of samples which include instruments, rhythms, and ambiences. The update also offers a new "Trigger FX" sound processing utility that spreads changes such as saturation, panning and delay effects between different octaves on the keyboard.
Samples inspired by science fiction
Native Instruments has released Sonic Fiction, a new Kore instrument featuring "otherworldly" samples. The software provides a variety of field recordings such as volcanic mudpots and television static, among others. Users can select a sample and apply the synthesis and sound processing functionality of Absynth, Kontakt and Kore engines.
Device complements Traktor Scratch setups
Native Instruments on Tuesday introduced the Traktor Kontrol X1, a new controller for DJ software. The device is based on the Traktor DJ platform and designed to be used with timecode-controlled configurations including hardware mixers and turntables or CD decks. Two X1 units can also be combined for setups with four turntables.
Audio 2 DJ debuted as NI's smallest USB interface
Native Instruments on Wednesday released the Audio 2 DJ, the company's smallest USB audio interface geared for DJs. The device is designed for use with Traktor or other performance software. Two 1/4-inch outputs can be used to route stereo signals to an external mixer, or as a master output and headphone monitor when using a software mixer.
Guitar Rig 4, Komplete 6
Native Instruments has announced several updates to its line of virtual instruments and effects applications, Guitar Rig 4 Pro and Komplete 6. Guitar Rig 4 Pro is the latest version of the company’s professional guitar studio which provides tools for tone-shaping and emulating amp sounds, with more than 250 ready-to-play guitar sounds. New features include a redesigned preset browser for simpler search functionality, two additional tube amp models, and a new Control Room module with for speaker emulation. The update also comes with new cabinet and microphone modeling functions.
Kontakt and Absynth update
Native Instruments on Tuesday announced updates to several of its products, Absynth and Kontakt. Absynth 5 adds a number of new features and capabilities, along with improvements to overall sound quality. The software synth integrates a new MIDI-controllable "Aetherizer" algorithm that breaks down sound into smaller pieces, then rearranges them in complex ways.

Native Instruments on Wednesday introduced several new products including Kontakt Player, Maschine Drum Selection and Evolve Mutations. Kontakt Player works as a software instrument based on the company's Kontakt 3.5 sampler, with support for Kompakt and Intakt formats. The player takes advantage of 64-bit systems, extended memory addressing, DFD streaming and multiprocessor configurations with up to 16 cores.
Essential Bass announced
Native Instruments has released its newest instrument collection, Essential Bass, which provides a variety of bass sounds for producing music. The application includes fingered and slapped bass from the sound design house Scarbee, along with picked bass from Pettinhouse and upright bass tracks. The software utilizes ABSYNTH, FM8, MASSIVE, and REAKTOR engines to produce a large selection of bass-synthesized tones. Users can also choose from samples taken from Minimoog, Roland Juno-60 and Studio Electronics SE1 synths.
AUDIO 2 DJ announced
Native Instruments has announced the AUDIO 2 DJ, a compact USB audio interface intended for DJs. The device utilizes the same audio technology as the AUDIO 8 DJ and AUDIO 4 DJ interfaces but is much more compact -- about the size of a deck of cards. The AUDIO 2 DJ uses dual stereo outputs to connect two decks separately into an external DJ mixer or output independent signals when mixing music on a computer. These outputs provide a +9.7dBu audio signal and low-latency drivers for Mac OS X to help ensure tight mixing.
NORTH INDIA released
Native Instruments has released NORTH INDIA, a new sound library that recreates the sounds from classical North Indian music. This sound library marks the launch of the new Discovery Series of KORE SOUNDPACKS, which aims to recreate the sounds from throughout the world for use with KORE 2 and KORE PLAYER. NORTH INDIA provides users with sounds from a variety of instruments and articulations established in North Indian classical music.
Absynth Spectral Expansion
Native Instruments has expanded its line of KORE Soundpack libraries to include the Absynth Spectral Expansion. The collection includes a variety of sounds based on Absynth's synthesizer engine. Users can choose from 200 unique samples with 1,600 variations, including categories for bass, keys, pads and bells, among others. The expansion pack focuses on organic sounds, utilizing Absynth 4's Wave Morphing feature.

Native Instruments had announced two of its latest products, the Guitar Rig Mobile and the Audio 4 DJ. Guitar Rig Mobile is a portable bus-powered USB 2 audio interface. The device is equipped with a selection of three amps, 12 speaker cabinets, and effects from its Guitar Rig 3 LE modeling software including time-based, distortion and overdrive, modulation, and filter effects. Roughly the size of a cigarette box, the interface contains 24bit/192 kHz Cirrus Logic converters. Amps provided are Twang Reverb for the sound of classic amps, Bass Pro to deliver a more gritty sound, and Lead 800 which gives lead sounds with flexibility options.
NI Announces Maschine
Native Instruments had announced Maschine, its latest groove production studio that enables users to create and arrange their preferred music beats. The system combines a software sequencer and sampler with an integrated performance controller containing 16 illuminated pressure-sensitive drum pads, 11 rotary encoders, transport controls, and two high-resolution displays. Equipped with over 5GB of sounds and patterns, Maschine also brings over 20 effects such as dynamic processors, beat-mashers, and mastering tools. All effects can be tweaked in real time via the hardware controller.
Guitar Rig update
Native Instruments has released the latest version of its studio software, Guitar Rig 3.2. The update includes a new MIDI input filter function, mono plugins tailored for AU and RTAS, reduced memory usage and other minor fixes. Although the software works cross-platform, support for Vista 64 has been added along with 64-bit drivers for the Rig Kontrol and Session I/O hardware. The program works in conjunction with the Rig Kontrol 3 foot pedal that features an on-board soundcard for connection to a computer and control over several acoustic parameters.

Native Instruments has announced a new software version of KORE 2, alongside price reductions and a KORE soundpack bundle. KORE 2 Software Edition offers musicians and producers the chance to combine KORE 2 with their existing MIDI controller. The Software Edition provides the full functionality of the KORE 2 application, but leaves out the dedicated KORE hardware controller in favor of a more affordable price point. All owners of this application will also be provided with the option to add the KORE controller later on as a separate purchase.

Traktor Scratch 1.2 update
Native Instruments today unveiled Traktor Scratch 1.2, a free software update to its professional digital DJ system, adding a number of features, as well as improved performance. Traktor Scratch uses digital turntables and CD-based DJ systems to alter digital music tracks. The new version also features tighter integration with iTunes, and enhanced time code tracking. New users can purchase Traktor Scratch for $700.
KORE Player released
As promised, Native Instruments has released KORE Player, a scaled-down companion to its KORE 2 platform. Native Instruments has given word of two new pieces of software in its KORE line. The first of these is the KORE Player, a greatly simplified version of its KORE 2 suite. Player is based on the ABSYNTH, FM8, GUITAR RIG, KONTAKT, MASSIVE and REAKTOR sound engines, but is designed solely to play material from KORE Soundpacks in a host sequencer, or as a separate instrument. It retains features such as preset browsing, but sound alteration is generally limited to paramater knobs, which tweak factors such as cutoff and morphing. These can be linked to a MIDI controller for easier use.
KONTAKT 3 demo released
Native Instruments has released the demo version of KONTAKT 3, its latest pro sampling software. The program is said to have "universal" file import ability, and incorporates a wave editor which goes beyond standard functions such as looping, slicing and tempo sync. Users can draw envelopes directly within the waveform, and apply 18 different effects, such as amp and cabinet simulations. The full version of KONTAKT 3 also has over 33GB of stock samples, with 1,000 instruments in categories such as Orchestral, World, Band and Urban Beats.
