ASRock has expanded its compact HTPC range with the addition of new NUC devices dubbed the BeeBox. The compact desktop system arrives in three different models, each sporting fanless cooling systems, three displays via two HDMI outputs and a DisplayPort connection, and one single USB Type-C connection among a number of other standard ports.
Hardware maker Xi3 will be showing off their new "next unit of computing" (NUC) models based on the Intel's fifth-generation Core "Broadwell" processors at their CES booth this week. NUC machines are tiny form-factor computers, similar to a stripped-down Mac mini, that eschew legacy connectivity in favor of cooler, quieter power efficiency compared to tower-style machines. The Xi3 offerings include four different models, for enterprise and consumer customers, including the Xi2 NUC Elli 5 and 5 Pro, and the Xi3 NUC Leon 5 and 5 Pro.
The second generation of Intel's Next Unit of Computing (NUC) may offer a considerable speed boost compared to the original, according to leaked slides. NUC 2.0 is said to include at least two variants with high-enough specifications that the compact computers could end up being used for gaming, and potentially as a Steam Machine system.
At the Computex trade show in Taipei, Taiwan, Intel once again showed off its Next Unit of Computing (NUC) small form-factor PC. It's just four by four inches in size and the latest information shared by TechReport suggests the device will cost $400 and ship sometime in the third quarter of the year. The PC was originally meant for digital signage but thanks to strong demand, it will be sold to a wider audience by system integrators and online reporters.
At its Platinum Summit 2012 event in London last week, Intel showed off a super-small desktop PC board dubbed the Next Unit of Computing, or NUC. It measures just under four inches square and has room for a Core i3 processor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, as well as Thunderbolt, USB, and HDMI ports. A miniITX board, in comparison, measures in at 6.7 by 6.7 inches (17 by 17cm).
