May 29 - 4:55pm EDT   3K Computers on Wednesday announced the release of the RazorBook 400 Ultra Mobile PC. The ASUS Eee PC competitor sports an identical 7-inch screen with 800x480 (WXGA) resolution and SSD drive, but runs on a 400MHz single-core mobile processor from Ingenic that helps to lower its price point. March 19 - 8:40pm EDT   Information has leaked regarding a semi-full-featured hybrid tablet ultra-mobile PC from HTC, called the Shift X9000, a 1-inch thick, 2 pound device that features a 7-inch touchscreen and Windows Vista Business. Laptop Magazine recently had a chance to review the unit, noting that the built-in Sprint EVDO connectivity and push email make the device quite interesting. While not officially released, the HTC Shift X9000 is expected to sell for $1500, according to Amazon. [full story]

January 4 - 3:55am EST   Garmin recently introduced a new product called Garmin Mobile PC, a kit that turns laptops and other mobile PCs into portable GPS stations. Garmin Mobile PC uses the same “Where to?” and “View Map” interface found in the Nuvi and StreetPilot product. The software can use Outlook addresses, or a list of nearly 6 million points of interest to find individuals, restaurants, gas stations, and other civic cervices. Garmin Mobile PC uses the company’s new GPS 20x sensor, while the software-only version can function with many third party serial- or Bluetooth-connectable GPS receivers.
