Sony unveils $250 3D camcorder, bloggers rejoice

Bloggers are increasingly becoming accepted as not only producers of content, but as identifiable and targetable consumers. As such, Sony has created the world's first pocket-sized 3D camcorder, known as the MHS-FS3 Bloggie 3D. This new camcorder comes with an entry-level price tag "around" $250, despite being capable of capturing HD 3D, as well as ull HD 2D MPEG-4 video or 5.1 megapixel photos.

Mien Software has released MediaEdit 3 for the Mac, a consumer-level video editing tool, which edits virtually all QuickTime readable formats and supports unlimited layers. The new release adds support for nlimited media layers can add video, audio and text and uses non-destructive editing. I talso sports multiple levels of undo, live previews and background rendering and can capture video and audio. MediaEdit 3 has a timeline, can resize and position clip display region and comes with standard effects, filters and transitions. Completed videos can be exported to QuickTime, DV, MPEG-4 and to the web.

Pyro debuts video encoder

Pyro AV has unveiled Pyro Kompressor HD, a PCI Express-based accelerator solution that encodes HD MPEG-2 and HD H.264/AVC up to eight times faster than software-only video compression. The single-slot PYRO Kompressor HD board is powered by the Ambric Am2045, a parallel processor with 336 RISC processors delivering 1.2 teraOPS-class of video horsepower for consistently high throughput encoding. Pyro Kompressor HD for the Mac platform will be available this spring for $3,500.

Image Server for Final Cut debuts

Telestream has announced an Image Server Component for Final Cut Pro, which provides IMX (MPEG-2) file compatibility and direct file transfer between 360 Systems' MAXX servers, and Apple's Final Cut Pro editing systems. The component imports MPEG-2 IMX 30/40/50 M/bit standard definition video, uncompressed audio, and metadata from the MAXX server directly into the Final Cut Pro project bin for editing. It also exports the MPEG project from Final Cut Pro for Ethernet file transfer back to MAXX servers.
