Waveforms, audio-levels also change colors
MOTU has released an update to its audio workstation software, Digital Performer 7.2. The software allows users to record, edit, mix and process audio and MIDI tracks. It is geared toward songwriters, studio productions, film and TV soundtracks, or live performances. It has a track layout view, mixing board, and transport controls capable of handling loop-based productions, linear sequencing and score notation-based composition. DP has a guitar amp emulator and features Wave64 support for 4GB and larger files.

MOTU shows ultra-portable MicroBook interface
MOTU has introduced its small MicroBook audio interface on Tuesday. Powered entirely by a USB connection and compatible with Macs and Windows PCs, the MicroBook gets four inputs and two outputs, letting users connect a microphone, guitar, keyboard or other stereo line level device and record simultaneously. A 3.5mm input and output lets users connect sources such as iPods or other portable audio devices, as well as computer speakers.

New power amp models including vintage, classic
MOTU has introduced a new version of its music production software, Digital Performer. Version 7.1 features a new tuner plug-in designed to work with a variety of pitched instruments such as a saxaphone or bass guitar. The company has added four new amplifier models including preamp, vintage, classic, and modern guitar tones. Other enhancements include new guitar-tone and channel-strip presets, as well as additional plug-in presets. For added control, keyboard shortcuts have been expanded with new options for zooming or moving MIDI notes up or down.

Ethno now offers 21GB sound library
MOTU at the 2010 NAMM Show announced the ZBox guitar impedance adapter, and a new major upgrade to its Ethno virtual instrument software. ZBox is designed to improve sound quality with software amplifiers by replicating the impedance levels found on classic guitar amps. Features include authentic matching circuits that emulate two-jack switching networks, and a built-in 16-inch cable for connecting to any guitar input. It offers plug-and-play installation and supports either Mac- or PC-powered audio interfaces equipped with preamps.

Device provides digital/analog inputs, ten outputs
MOTU has introduced its latest device, the UltraLite-mk3 Hybrid audio interface. Musicians can choose from both FireWire and USB 2.0 connection options, while the hardware supports Mac and Windows platforms. The interface provides two mic/instrument inputs, six line-level analog inputs, ten channels of analog output, S/PDIF digital output and a headphone port.

MOTU has launched Digital Performer 7, the latest version of its music production software. Users can now choose a new Custom '59 amplifier model that replicates the sound from classic guitar amps including the Fender Bassman, Marshall JTM45, and Marshall JCM800. The interface provides full controls for tone settings, drive, and tube combinations.

Beat Production Machine
MOTU has announced its Beat Production Machine (BPM), a rhythm production tool which combines drum machine-style operation with virtual instrument technology. The BPM allows users to combine drum kits, sliced loops, sequenced patterns, and instrument sounds to create a variety of different beats. With a 15GB integrated library, users receive over 10,000 individual samples and over 1,000 new drum and percussion loops -- all recorded at 24-bit 96 kHz resolution. BMP also includes importing and exporting capabilities, music recording abilities, a graphic mixer, and a live performance mode.

MOTU intros UltraLite-mk3
MOTU on Monday announced the release of its UltraLite-mk3 portable digital audio mixer and processor, which is powered and interfaces with computers entirely via a FireWire connection. The third generation of the company's UltraLite is now able to apply DSP effects and be used as a standalone mixer without a computer. The half-rack sized mixer offers 10 inputs and 14 outputs, the signals of which are processed via a 192kHz analog I/O and 32-bit floating point DSP.

MOTU's 828mk3 unveiled
MOTU has unveiled the 828mk3, a cross-platform FireWire audio interface with on-board effects and mixing functionality. The 828mk3 features a 32-bit floating point DSP for digital mixing and effects processing, more I/O, 192kHz operation, and true hi-Z guitar inputs. The device also offers signal overload protection, digitally controlled analog input trims on all inputs, two banks of ADAT/TOSLink optical, and MIDI I/O. The 828mk3 will ship in February for $800.

Digital Performer 6
Audio and video specialist MOTU has debuted Digital Performer 6, the next version of its audio sequencing software. The interface of the program has been completely redesigned, and includes a variety of other enhancements as well, such as XML exchange with Final Cut Pro, and generally improved support for film scoring. Users can now work with interleaved broadcast WAVE files, pre-render virtual instruments, and "bounce and burn" to audio CDs. Finally, there is better support for AU plug-ins, and operating as a front end for Pro Tools HD systems. DP6 should ship later this quarter for $795.
