Nokia Alpha, Pure Phi, Phi, PureLambda handsets coming soon?
New images of a Nokia Lumia 800 handset running on wpbench revealed a list of Greek names for what we can only assume are codenames for upcoming Windows Phone-powered Nokia handsets. Shared by the My Nokia Blog, the images came from a user running the Windows Phone 7 benchmark on his Lumia 800. The names include Nokia PureLambda, Nokia Phi, Nokia Pure Phi and Nokia Alpha.

Conflicting, complementary answers from smartphone assistants
Owners of the iPhone 4S and Lumia 800 can get solid advice on just about anything, thanks to the voice-recognition technology built into the phones' digital assistant software; but it turns out that if they ask for advice on smartphones, they may wind up with a bit of buyer's remorse. As The Next Web found out through experimentation, the two phones give conflicting and complementary answers when you ask each what is the best smartphone.

Nokia Lumia 800C first CDMA WP7 phone in China
Nokia has announced that it as teamed exclusively with China Telecom to bring its first wave of Windows Phone 7 handsets to the critical Chinese smartphone market. The first handset to lead the charge is the Lumia 800C, which is a CDMA variant of the the Lumia 800 already launched in other international markets. In addition to being the first CDMA Windows Phone in China, it will also come with additional content pre-installed and unique to the Chinese market.

Nokia on the verge of WP7 push into China
Nokia has confirmed that it is planning a special Chinese Windows Phone launch for March 28. The announcement supports a recent report that Nokia has developed China-specific CDMA versions of its new Windows Phone 7 line-up which will begin shipping in April. The two phones set to lead the Nokia Windows Phone charge in China will be the low-end Lumia 610 and the mid-tier Lumia 800, with the high-end Lumia 900 shipping sometime afterwards.

Nokia talks about the history of 41MP sensor
Nokia's 808 PureView smartphone, with its industry-beating 41-megapixel sensor, was more than five years in the making at the company, and the company's Damian Dinning now revealed the project was inspired by satellite imaging tech. Nokia has experimented with folding optics for zoom, but found the solution to be slow and noisy, before realizing images taken by satellites use large resolution sensors and then crop the image and zoom in a specific part of the image.

Nokia Lumia 800 lands in value-added bundle
Nokia’s Lumia 800 Windows Phone 7.5 smartphone has landed as a value-added bundle at Microsoft Retail Stores. Users can pick Nokia’s new iOS and Android challenger in black or magenta with a radio optimized for AT&T. In the bundle is also a Nokia Play 360 Bluetooth Speaker, a pair of Nokia’s Purity HD headphones as well as a Nokia Bluetooth headset, all for $899 outright.

Nokia beats market consensus, but profit down
Nokia has posted its financial results (pdf) revealing better than expected results. The Finnish company reports that it has sold ‘well over’ 1 million Windows Phone-based smartphones in combined sales of the Lumia 710 and the Lumia 800. However, while its core earnings beat market consensus, they were still down 73 percent as it sold less Symbian-based smartphones than it had forecast.

Windows Phone reaches new milestone in quick timeT
The Windows Phone Marketplace has reached its latest milestone, cracking the 60,000 app barrier. The figure comes some 14 months after the launch of Windows Phone 7 in October 2010 when it launched with just 1,000 apps. It had reached its previous milestone of 50,000 apps at the end of December showing a sudden acceleration as it has added a further 10,000 apps in just the past 25 days.

Nokia's WP7 flagship gets FCC teardown
The Nokia Lumia 800 has reached the FCC for wireless certification. Notably, the testing highlights that its 3G radio does not support the 1700MHz band meaning that this version won’t end up alongside the Lumia 710 at T-Mobile. Beyond that, the FCC has conducted its customary teardown revealing device’s key wireless components.

Nokia shows off impressive HumanForm concept
Nokia has just revealed an in-depth video documentary (below) for its Lumia 800 smartphone, the first premium Windows Phone device from the company. The video offers a unique look at the creation of the device from the many teams involved in its birth. At the same time, the Finnish phone maker shared another video that talks about its HumanForm concept handset.
