Aluminum case uses metal band design, adds snap-on plastic covers
Nokia has formally revealed the Lumia 925 at its London press event this morning. Previously rumored under the project name of Catwalk and leaked yesterday, the aluminum-clad smartphone with a "unique metal band design" is being promoted with its 8.7-megapixel PureView smart camera with IOS and Carl Zeiss optics and flash as its main focal point.

Nokia aiming to create a 'hero' Windows Phone, camera a differentiator
Nokia CFO Timo Ihamuotila has talked up the rumored forthcoming Lumia 928 as a ‘hero’ device, suggesting that the Finnish handset maker is aiming to directly target new handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One. Speaking to analysts following the company’s Q1 results, which featured upbeat Lumia sales, Ihamuotila and Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said that Nokia is working on exclusivity agreements with carriers in the US and the UK to help give the phone a headline billing. Nokia shows positive signs with Lumia sales up 27 percent
Nokia has published its Q1 2013 interim report revealing that its operating income reached $7.7 billion for the period January through to the end of March. Importantly, in signs that its Lumia smartphones running Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS is beginning to gain traction, the Finnish company reported its Lumia sales were up 27 percent over the previous quarter. For the first time its Lumia smartphones cracked the 5 million mark, selling 5.6 million units in total.

The first purported images of the long-rumored aluminum Nokia Lumia smartphone codenamed ‘Catwalk’ have appeared in the wild. The photos surfaced on the Chinese social networking site Sina Weibo. Quarterly profit significant improvement to $1.2B loss in Q4 2011
Nokia made a profit of €439 million ($585 million) in the fourth quarter of 2012, according to recently released financial reports. Full year results for 2012 saw that the losses in previous quarters still puts the company at an overall loss of €2.3 billion ($3 billion), despite the Lumia-based sales uptick seen in the last quarter.

Lumia sales reach 4.4 million, up from 2.9 million in Q3
Nokia has revealed that it's Devices & Services division has "exceeded expectations," in its preliminary fourth-quarter results report. First Windows Phone 8 devices arrive at Verizon on Tuesday
First AT&T, and now Verizon has dated its version of Nokia's Lumia 820, the Lumia 822. The handset can now be pre-ordered, as promised just yesterday, but Verizon just revealed it will ship by Tuesday, November 13. It will cost $99 on a two-year voice and data plan, which is twice as much as it costs at AT&T.

An announcement from Verizon today tipped customers off to the availability of Windows Phone 8 handsets on the nation's largest carrier, with the Lumia 822 from Nokia and HTC's Windows Phone 8X going up for pre-order November 9 at 1 a.m. EST. The two new smartphones will be the first Windows Phone 8 models to appear on the nation's largest carrier. High-end Lumia to run $599 off contract
The mobile page for Nokia's Lumia 920 smartphone has confirmed prior indications of the Lumia 920's pricing. The phone had previously been priced at $150 in pre-sales at Best Buy and eBay, and Nokia's mobile page for the smartphone confirmed that pricing today. Verizon teases Lumia 822 is coming soon for $100 on contract
Verizon has made its Nokia Lumia 822 smartphone official recently, pricing it at $100 on a two-year contract. The handset is basically the CDMA version of the Lumia 820 and runs on Windows Phone 8. Lumis 920 training videos leak online
The Nokia Lumia 920 will allegedly be exclusive to AT&T for a six-month period. If true, this would see the carrier continuing to be the sole US source of higher-end Nokia handsets, following its exclusivity agreement for the Lumia 900 that has ran since March. Electronista is on site in New York at AT&T's Unwrapped 2012 event, where the carrier and assorted manufacturers are showing off the latest phones, tablets, and other connected gadgets that will be released over the next few months. We got to spend a short bit of time with Nokia's Lumia 920, which will be coming to AT&T in November after the launch of Windows Phone 8. From what we could see, the 920 looks to be a solid offering, but Nokia 's keeping the device under pretty tight wraps even as its release appears.

Both WP8 handsets released in US for holiday season

Elop: Nokia has WP8 rights beyond others, even Microsoft
Even with rumors of a Microsoft smartphone surfacing again, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop believes the Finnish smartphone maker will be able to distinguish its Lumia line of Windows Phone 8 devices and provide a WP8 experience that no other manufacturers can match, including Microsoft. Elop's comments came as part of an interview with GigaOM, one in which the Nokia CEO noted that Nokia's bet on the Windows Phone platform had netted the phone maker some permissions particular to Nokia. Those permissions, as well as Nokia's years of research into smartphone technologies, give Elop confidence that, should Microsoft roll out its own smartphone, Nokia's position in the WP8 segment will be largely unaffected.

Phone maker issues additional apology for faked stills
Shortly after it was revealed that Nokia had misrepresented video shot with a different camera as having come from the Lumia 920, the Finnish phone manufacturer has expanded its original apology, revealing that other parts of its marketing materials, including still photography, did not come from the Lumia's camera. The still photo discrepancy was discovered last week by blogger Youssef Sarhan. The new apology represents yet another black mark on the unveiling of Nokia's new handsets, distracting from the phone's considerable imaging technologies at a time when Nokia is hoping to improve its flagging sales and improve its market share versus Apple, Samsung, and other phone manufacturers.

This time, the Nokia 820 seems to have shown up being handled in live pictures posted to CoolXap.com. Even as the company announced massive losses today, Nokia appears to be aiming toward the future, with the Finnish phone maker promising that "something amazing" will be coming on September 7 of this year. My Nokia Blog spotted a banner outside Nokia's flagship store in Helsinki that directs viewers to a somewhat cryptic marketing site. The "something amazing" could simply be a redesign of the flagship store, or it may be the unveiling of new Nokia handsets.
