Dell 7-inch tablet hits Wi-Fi Alliance and Vaja

Dell's plans for its Streak tablet sequel were firmed up on Thursday with official and semi-official listings. A Wi-Fi Alliance certification (PDF) lists the M02M, a number up from the Streak's M01M and a direct successor as a result. The clue reveals the presence of 802.11n Wi-Fi that the existing Streak doesn't have.

ChangeWave says iPad work demand jumping in 2011

Over three quarters of corporate buyers planning to buy tablets in early 2011 still plan to get iPads, ChangeWave said in a new study. About 78 percent of those committed to tablets in the first three months of next year were intent on getting an iPad. Although RIM saw an improvement as it edged closer to release, only nine percent expected to get its BlackBerry PlayBook, which was now tied with Dell tablets like the Streak and the upcoming seven-inch Looking Glass.

Dell: tablets big in 2011, WP7 easier than Android

Michael Dell today told those at a Hong Kong gathering that his company would have a "significant number of new tablets" in 2011. He stopped short of detailing the plans but characterized his firm as experimenting with what would work. The executive wasn't certain the iPad had established a full market and didn't want to commit to a particular formula for his launch plans.

Dell 7-inch Looking Glass tablet teased at event

Dell's namesake chief Michael Dell confirmed [sub. required] the company's 7-inch Looking Glass tablet today at Oracle's conference. He didn't provide more details other than to say it would run Android like the Streak. Dell also didn't mention ship dates and other details.

Dell 7-inch tablet gets Tegra 2, Android 2.1

Dell's larger tablet strategy will start off mildly, another leak suggested this evening. So far codenamed the Looking Glass, the 7-inch version should use an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and Android 2.1 but will largely be an upsized version of the Mini 5. Engadget understands that the Looking Glass should still have the 800x480 resolution, and its main advantages will be an ATSC or DVB-T TV tuner along with a possible AT&T U-verse TV access.
