Amazon restores Lendle access after outcry

Lendle addresses issues and has service restored

Amazon has restored API access for the popular Lendle e-book lending service after an outcry from its users. Amazon sent notice to Lendle’s developers that it was in violation of its API’s and that as Lendle does not "serve the principal purpose of driving sales of products and services on the Amazon site,” its access had been revoked. According to a report by TNW, numerous users had indicated that the reason that they had purchased as many books through Amazon as they had was because they had been introduced to titles through the Lendle service.

Service said to run counter to sales goals

Amazon has reportedly revoked API access for Lendle's e-book lending service, effectively shutting the company out from the Kindle platform. In a blog post regarding the situation, the company points to an e-mail from Amazon that explains that Lendle does not "serve the principal purpose of driving sales of products and services on the Amazon site."
