Largan sees stock dip on rumors iPhone 6 will retain 8MP camera

Camera may offer other improvements like optical image stabilization

Shares for iPhone camera module supplier Largan Precision took a major hit yesterday, following rumors Apple won't be changing the resolution of the iPhone 6 camera, according to the China Post. Nomura Securities analysts brought the rumors to the fore, which suggest that Apple will keep resolution at 8 megapixels instead of bumping up to 16 megapixels, as anticipated by some others. A few rival phones -- like the Sony Xperia Z1 -- are already above that figure, and Nokia's Lumia 1020 has a colossal 41-megapixel sensor.

TSMC, Largan, Foxconn, Texas Instruments among mentioned suppliers

Apple suppliers are now engaged in "intensive delivery" of a "large number" of parts for a low-cost iPhone, says the Commercial Times. TSMC is reportedly delivering 28nm processors, while Largan Precision is supplying an 8-megapixel camera. Foxconn is providing a battery module and most of the inner frame, while Taiflex Scientific is handling a flexible circuit. Other suppliers are said to include Chipbond, Kinsus, SPIL, Texas Instruments, and Renesas Electronics.

iPhone 5 production ratios, camera tech uncovered

Two simultaneous discoveries have helped outlined the since-started production of the iPhone 5. Chinese tipsters said Monday that Apple contract partners Foxconn and Pegatron were manufacturing the devices without firmware. The step seen by MacOtakara wouldn't be surprising given the OS' uncompleted state but will leave Apple with a relatively short interval between having a finished OS and when it can ship.
