NI ships Absynth, Guitar Rig, Kontakt, Komplete updates

Originally announced in September

Native Instruments has begun selling updated versions of several core music programs. The first is Absynth 5, a software synthesizer which has been improved with better audio quality, as well as new synthesis and effects features. Amongst the latter is the Mutator tool, which creates variations of a preset based on related ones.

NI announces Discovery Series: BALINESE GAMELAN

Native Instruments in collaboration with the sound-design house Soniccouture, have announced the latest KONTAKT-powered virtual instrument BALINESE GAMELAN. The new audio software is the second entry in the "discovery series," offering an assortment of ethnic instruments of classic Indonesian music. The instruments in this software were sampled from the London Symphonic Orchestra’s Semara Dana Gamelan Ensemble, featuring three essential elements such as the big gongs, the paired metallophones and the kettle gongs.

NI Absynth 5 gets new filters, Kontakt 4 adds choirs

Kontakt and Absynth update

Native Instruments on Tuesday announced updates to several of its products, Absynth and Kontakt. Absynth 5 adds a number of new features and capabilities, along with improvements to overall sound quality. The software synth integrates a new MIDI-controllable "Aetherizer" algorithm that breaks down sound into smaller pieces, then rearranges them in complex ways.

NI intros Kontakt Player, Maschine Drum, Mutations

Native Instruments apps

Native Instruments on Wednesday introduced several new products including Kontakt Player, Maschine Drum Selection and Evolve Mutations. Kontakt Player works as a software instrument based on the company's Kontakt 3.5 sampler, with support for Kompakt and Intakt formats. The player takes advantage of 64-bit systems, extended memory addressing, DFD streaming and multiprocessor configurations with up to 16 cores.

Native Instruments offers KONTAKT 3 crossgrade

KONTAKT 3 crossgrade

Native Instruments says it is now offering its KONTAKT 3 sampling software in a crossgrade package for owners of GigaStudio. The software features 1,000 instruments across six collections, totaling over 33GB of data. Users can edit with simple or advanced tools, the latter including freely-drawable envelopes. A wave editor, meanwhile, allows samples to be looped, sliced, or tempo-synced. Integrated effects include the likes of convolution or amp and cab emulation.

NI ships KONTAKT Retro Machines library

NI KONTAKT Retro Machines

Native Instruments has released a new addition to its line of Soundpack libraries for KORE 2 and KORE Player, KONTAKT Retro Machines. The library emulates a number of classic electronic instruments invented in the 1970s and '80s, used in genres such as electro and hip-hop; five digital synths, 11 analog synths and six drum machines are reproduced, across 135 KoreSounds. Each instrument sound also has eight variations, such as pad, percussive and arpeggiated sounds.

NI releases KONTAKT 3 demo version

KONTAKT 3 demo released

Native Instruments has released the demo version of KONTAKT 3, its latest pro sampling software. The program is said to have "universal" file import ability, and incorporates a wave editor which goes beyond standard functions such as looping, slicing and tempo sync. Users can draw envelopes directly within the waveform, and apply 18 different effects, such as amp and cabinet simulations. The full version of KONTAKT 3 also has over 33GB of stock samples, with 1,000 instruments in categories such as Orchestral, World, Band and Urban Beats.
