Jawbone is giving customers the ability to make their portable speakers water-resistant, when extra protection via a hydrophobic coating is bought from its website. The Jambox and Mini Jambox now lists an option to add Liquipel 2.0 to the devices as a $50 extra, making the regular-sized version cost $200, and the smaller model $230.
Jawbone has put its Mini Jambox portable Bluetooth speaker, revealed by the company last month, on sale in the United States. The speaker, capable of connecting to an accompanying iOS and Android mobile app that collects playlists from iTunes, Rdio and Spotify for playback, is available to buy for $180 through Jawbone's website.

Jawbone's plans for a bigger Bluetooth speaker were given away late Thursday after an FCC filing showed a new device. Just called the Big Jambox, the diagramming hints that it might represent a literal upsizing of the brick-shaped audio device. Not much is hinted at in directly by the filing besides the inclusion of Bluetooth.

The device uses a two small dome speakers that work in conjunction with a moving-wall passive bass radiator and airtight enclosure for more range than most portable speakers manage.
