Wacom introduces four packages in new Intuos graphics tablet range

Intuos Draw, Art, Comic, Photo tablets give multiple options to digital artists

Wacom has used IFA to launch a new range of Intuos graphics tablets. The new tablets are being brought out in four different models with two different sizes, with the Art, Comic and Photo tablets including Pen and Touch capabilities while the Draw version just has pen input, with also including optional wireless connectivity, 1,024 pen pressure sensitivity levels, and four customizable ExpressKeys in the top corners.

Wacom has introduced a new drawing tablet package for Windows and Mac that is designed to appeal to artists and cartoonists. The Intuos Manga Pen and Touch tablet follows on from similar earlier bundles from the tablet producer, combining one of its refreshed entry-level tablets with drawing applications from Smith Micro.

New drawing tablet line aimed at consumer, professional markets

At the IFA trade show earlier today, Wacom has refreshed its Intuos line, adding elements from the Bamboo lineage, and has revealed the new Intuos and the Intuos Pro. The Intous is aimed at the entry-level user, and supplants the Bamboo line of devices, with the Intuos Pro shooting for the professional designer market, and replacing the Intuos5 line of touch-sensitive tablets from the manufacturer.

New pen uses Bluetooth 4.0 for communication to compatible apps

In its second product announcement today, Wacom introduced a pressure-sensitive digital pen, the Intuos Creative Stylus, for sketching, drawing and painting on newer models of Apple's iPad. The new pen allowing users a realistic pen-on-paper feel with the ability to rest the palm naturally on the iPad when using compatible creative apps.

3 wireless models submitted to FCC for approval

Wacom may soon be introducing an updated family of wireless pen tablets. The maker of digital pen input devices has submitted to the FCC three new products for wireless radio certification. It is likely that these will update the Intuos4 tablet that the company introduced in February 2010.

Wacom Intuos4 Wireless uses Bluetooth and battery

Wacom today unveiled its first completely wireless tablet controller. The Intuos4 Wireless makes its link to a Mac or Windows PC through Bluetooth and provides the full feature set of a tethered pad without occupying the valuable expansion space on a notebook. A lithium-ion battery keeps it running for up to 18 hours of semi-active use; USB both recharges it and provides a wired option for frequent use.
