Intuit delays Quicken for Mac until 2010

July 9 - 4:55pm EDT   A long-delayed update for the Mac version of Quicken has been delayed yet again, says Quicken PR manager Scott Gulbransen. The software is now expected in February 2010, having originally been announced for sometime in 2008. As recently as the last Macworld Expo, the company was forecasting a 2009 launch. [full story]

Class action settlement cites QuickBooks 2006 issues

June 5 - 3:10pm EDT   The Garden City Group has filed a Notice of Class Action Settlement, based on a case alleging that Intuit's QuickBooks 2006 software can cause the loss or damage of important data. As a result of Create-A-Card v. Intuit Inc., affected QuickBooks users may thus be eligible to claim an award. The settlement proposes reimbursement of both monetary recovery as well as a free upgrade to QuickBooks Pro 2007. [full story]

QuickBooks Online adds support for Safari

May 5 - 3:30pm EDT   Intuit has announced that its QuickBooks Online accounting tools are now available on Apple's Safari browser, while new editing capabilities have been added to the iPhone version. The web-based application can be used to create invoices, pay bills or track expenses from any computer connected to the Internet. Users can generate and customize a variety of reports, then print or e-mail the documents as needed. [full story]

First Look: QuickBooks 2009 for Mac

November 10 - 7:50pm EST   The growth of Mac market share is having some pleasant side effects -- especially for software. Instead of just releasing ported Windows versions, the economics of scale has made it practical for some developers to rewrite their titles to take advantage of Mac OS X features and ease of use. Intuit has made that investment in QuickBooks 2009, and the result is a much more "Mac-like" application. Simplicity is the key, the company says, and a host of new features have been added to reduce the learning curve for the venerable small business accounting application. [full story]

Steve Jobs ranks high among popular CEOs

June 20 - 11:15am EDT   Apple's Steve Jobs has the one of the best employee ratings amongst thousands of corporate CEOs, data from Glassdoor suggests. The site is said to have compiled over 40,000 worker reviews of some 9,800 companies around the world, and at present Jobs is rated well by 91 percent of his employees. By comparison, more average ratings include Michael Dell at 66 percent, and Microsoft's Steve Ballmer at 55. [full story]

Apple signals 100,000 SDK downloads

March 12 - 9:20am EDT   Apple has announced that in the first four days following the release of the beta iPhone SDK, over 100,000 downloads have been processed through the Apple Developer Connection, to which people must officially belong before they can use the software. "Developer reaction to the iPhone SDK has been incredible with more than 100,000 downloads in the first four days," reads a statement by Apple's senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing, Philip Schiller. "Also, over one million people have watched the launch video on Apple.com, further demonstrating the incredible interest developers have in creating applications for the iPhone.” [full story]

Intuit brings Quicken to iPhone

December 19 - 5:00pm EST   Intuit today announced that it will be providing Quicken as an online software service for iPhone and mobile users by January 8th for $3 per month, which it hopes will expand its constantly-growing 14 million user-strong base. Reuters reports that with yearly sales of 1.7 million copies, Quicken has gained 8-percent marketshare, putting it at 80-percent for 2007. The service will be accessible through web browsers on most mobile devices, using the same encryption techniques used for internet banking to keep a user's data safe. The iPhone version, while having a lighter feature loadout than for other devices, will be completely optimized for on-the-go financials on the ... [full story]
