Amidst strong critical and economic reaction to an anti-LGBT law signed by Republican Governor Mike Pence in Indiana, Apple CEO Tim Cook -- recently named as the "World's Greatest [Business] Leader" by Fortune magazine -- has posted on Twitter expressing "deep" disappointment with the move and urging another Republican governor, Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, not to sign a similar measure.
The Indiana state legislature is considering whether or not to adopt iPads for use during sessions, writes the Associated Press. The matter is currently in front of a review committee. In all the legislature would need at least 150 tablets, split between 100 for representatives and 50 for senators.
The US government has indicted 27 people suspected of belonging to a fraud ring targeting Apple Stores, reports say. The group is accused of making fake credit cards using stolen data bought from the Internet, and in turn fraudulently buying $1 million or more in goods from Apple Stores in 13 states. Products like Macs and gift cards were fenced to bring in cash.
Apple has announced plans to open two US Apple Stores on Saturday. One is located in Akron, Ohio, inside the Summit Mall at 3265 West Market Street. The outlet will be Akron's first, and have regular hours of 10AM to 9PM Monday through Saturday, and Sunday times running between 11AM and 6PM. No workshops have been scheduled so far.
