Altomac has launched Filemailer for the Mac, a utility that simplifies the task of transferring files via email. The software allows a user to quickly move data files – such as PDFs, images, and documents – without needing to open an email program and compose an email for the sole purpose of sending a file. Filemailer sends the file to the receiving party's email address. It also avoids build-up of sent attachments, as it does not retain files after sending them, as email programs usually do.

iPhone pulls ahead

IT firms are spending less as a result of a slowing economy, but even amid the constant downturn, Apple's iPhone is still seeing wider adoption in the field. According to a new report from ChangeWave Research, the amount of companies expected to purchase iPhones during the August quarter sits at 17-percent, having recently passed competitor Palm during November 2007. Overall demand for the iPhone has grown 7-percent from a year ago, when Apple last sat underneath Palm in adoption plans.

Integrating Macs into PC-based networks has always faced uphill battles from IT professionals who look at the Macs as a foreign system. A group of enterprise software companies have formed the Enterprise Desktop Alliance (EDA), with the goal of making Mac integration easier for the IT professionals running enterprise networks. The five companies, Atempo, Centrify , Group Logic, LANrev and Parallels, are combining their specialties under one centralized point of reference, with the goal of providing IT managers easy integration of Macs with similar control, security, and service as their PC workstations.

Vodafone: No prepaid iPhone 3G in NZ

Despite a series of conflicting news releases, Vodafone has confirmed that there will not be a pay-as-you-go version of the iPhone 3G available in New Zealand. NZMac.com first spotted the confusion in statements from Vodafone and Apple New Zealand which announced both contract and prepaid versions of the iPhone in various press releases. Vodafone cleared things up this morning, saying only the contract versions will be available in New Zealand and Portugal beginning in July 11.

Redstone Software, makers of Eggplant, announced the general availability of the Redstone integrated Test Appliance (RiTA) on the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system. By supporting Leopard, Redstone is able to exploit Apple's latest Xserve hardware to create powerful platforms from which Eggplant can be deployed to Windows desktops. RiTA provides a centralized facility for Macintosh users to build, store, manage and execute Eggplant Functional Tester (FT) and Eggplant Load Tester (LT) automated test cases.

Apple announces WWDC 2008

WWDC 2008 announced

Apple today announced dates for the Worldwide Developers Conference 2008, which will run from June 9th to the 13th. Apple advertises "Three Tracks to Innovation," through the iPhone, the Macintosh platform, and the IT sector. Each "Track" has a host of informative sessions for development techniques, with additional information available for animation techniques, technology integration, and several other Apple-specific services.
